Safety Drills
We completed our first fire drill and will complete a tornado drill in October. Over the next two weeks during guidance, Miss Polzin and Mrs. Casimir will be reviewing our alert systems with the students. Briefly, they include:
Yellow Alert - We have been contacted by Appleton Police that there is a situation in the neighborhood and we are to stay in the building. Instruction continues as normal.
Blue Alert - There is a situation in a hallway that is not a threat (for example, an injury of a staff member or student) and we need the hallways to stay clear. Students stay in the classroom and instruction continues.
Red Alert - This alert means there is a threat inside the building. We will talk through possible actions in a way that gives the students information but does not cause undo anxiety.
When all students have the information, we will drill the Yellow and Blue alerts, and review the Red alert.
If you would like more information about these safety procedures, contact Mrs. Meyer. Also, please contact Mrs. Meyer, Mrs. Casimir, or Miss Polzin if you feel these drills will be difficult for your child. We will work with you to be sure your child has the needed information in a way that is comfortable for him/her.
