Memorial of St. Josephine Bakhita

Born in Sudan, she lived a happy childhood until kidnapped and placed into the cycle of human trade. Despite the horrible things in her life, it is said she possessed an inner peace that she could eventually name as the presence of God in her life. We pray with St. Josephine.

“In You, Lord, I place my hope, I raise my spirit to my God. You are the God of my salvation, every day I hope in You. Do not let me be disappointed!”

St. Josephine, you who lived your daily life with joyful faith, pray for us!

Congratulations to all the spellers for their performance in the Spelling Bee.  Our Word Pronouncer, former teacher Mr. Daryl Warnke, stated that he was "incredibly impressed ... with their courage and skill and poise, and tremendous focus under pressure and sportsmanship. Truly amazing young men and women." That goes out to all the spellers! Special congratulations to 6th Grade student Zipporah Ehrlich, who won the Bee by spelling the word biryani, which is an Indian dish of meat, fish or vegetable cooked with rice.  Second place was taken by Genevieve Bautista, third was Jianna Bautista, fourth place, Josephine Roarty, and fifth place was Ryan Judd. Zipporah and Genevieve will advance to the Regional Bee held in Kimberly next Thursday morning.  Good luck to them!

THANK YOU for Your Generous Support!

Xavier supporters “redefined what is possible” and made a tremendous impact on the school system during the Celebrate fundraiser this past Saturday night.  Thanks to everyone’s generosity, Xavier Catholic Schools’ “Fund Our Future” portion of the event (the time where straight donations are requested) raised an impressive $185,950, which unlocked the matching funds of $150,000 for a grand total of $335,950!  We are blessed with such generous supporters!

We’ve had some requests to share the list of staff “causes” that weren’t satisfied at Celebrate. As soon as we can prepare the unsold lists, we will communicate that to supporters.

Our genuine gratitude to everyone involved, from sponsors to donors to our incredible volunteers, from those who purchased raffle tickets to those who attended or bid remotely—and everyone in between.  We will share the total amount raised as soon as it is available.  For now, please know we are incredibly grateful for everyone’s generous support of Xavier Catholic Schools.
