Hispanic Heritage Month Sept. 15-Oct. 15

Let us follow the example of St. Toribio Romo and see Jesus in the faces of all those who suffer physical, emotional and spiritual pain. Let us see the face of Jesus Christ, in everyone who needs to hear his voice and feel his love. Let us see him in the families who are struggling, those who are poor and homeless. Let us see Jesus in the tears of hungry, abandoned and abused children. Let us see the face of Christ in the elderly and forgotten, the immigrant, the stranger among us seeking freedom and hope.

Thank you to everyone for your support of Campus Ministry during last week’s casual day.

Student Council

The St. Francis Xavier Middle School Student Council is meeting for the first time on Wednesday, September 28th from 3:30 - 4:00 p.m.  We will continue to meet every 4th Wednesday of the month.

The Student Council is open to any student in 5th through 8th grade who wants to develop leadership skills by participating in the decision-making process for a large community such as our Middle School.  If you are interested in learning and energizing your leadership characteristics and want to be a voice for your fellow students, Student Council may be for you.  Please attend the first meeting if you are interested in and/or called to lead.  Please talk to or email Mr. VanNuland with any questions.

AfterWords Writing Group

Do you enjoy writing?  Our school has a club called AfterWords Writing Group.  This group does not meet at any time, but it is a group of students who love writing and would like to enter a writing contest.  Our first contest is the Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest.  The Patriot's Pen is sponsored by the Appleton VFW and open to students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.  The VFW loves to encourage our young people to be aware and involved in thinking about those who served our country in the military.  This year's essay contest is based on the theme, "My Pledge to Our Veterans."  What can you do to support these brave men and women in our community?  Your essay would need to be between 300 to 400 words.  If you are interested in entering, please contact Ms. Bouchard, [email protected]The deadline is October 21st.
