It was a busy week at Williston Economic Development as we said farewell to our interns. Rayce Vergets and Sarah Dobler have spent the past 10 weeks working on projects for WED and XWA. We were thrilled with their contributions and wish them all the best!

XWA seeking More Ultra Low-Cost Carriers
The new Williston Basin International Airport will officially open on October 10, 2019. 
Williston Economic Development - Airport Director Anthony Dudas has met with multiple new airlines with hopes of attracting an additional air service provider and routes for improved leisure and business travel options. Possible new routes that have been brought up in these discussions include Salt Lake City, Houston, Las Vegas, and Phoenix. As of now, no commitments have been made. Read More
XWA Billboards go up in Western North Dakota
Williston Economic Development - Williston Economic Development is teaming up with XWA to promote the new airport, its amenities and airlines. These billboards are located in western North Dakota. The first flight will land at the new Williston Basin International Airport on October 10!

City of Williston plans 16th Avenue, 42nd Street Extensions
Williston Economic Development - The City of Williston is moving forward with plans to extend 16th Avenue West and 42nd Street West. The Williston City Commission voted unanimously on Tuesday, June 23 to hire Alliance Consulting as the Selected Consultant for the Design and Construction Service of the Sloulin Field Infrastructure Improvements. The project is critical to the City's plan to redevelop Sloulin Field after it is decommissioned in October 2019. The project contains approximately 800 acres of developable land adjacent to US Highway 2. Read More
1 Million Cups to feature Maah Daah Hey Trail, Full Circle Strength Systems Aug. 7
Williston Economic Development - One Million Cups will be held Wednesday, August 7 at 8:30 a.m. at the Teton Lounge. The presenters will be from two organizations: Maah Daah Hey Trail and Full Circle Strength Systems. The meeting is free and open to anyone interested in starting a business, entrepreneurship and community development. We hope to see you there!

WRED creating Online Directory for Clubs, Organizations
Western Region Economic Development (WRED) is seeking clubs, organizations and religious groups for an online directory.  WRED is a non-profit organization funded through valued memberships, grants, and STAR Fund dollars. The board of directors is comprised of economic development representatives from Divide, McKenzie, Mountrail and Williams Counties as well as business leaders from western North Dakota.   Read More

Roundup -  Watford City RE/MAX broker and developer Paul Ficara has begun developing the Stepping Stone golf course community to provide new, custom built residential homes to families in the area. The 144 acre Residential Subdivision is located in close proximity to the Roughrider Center,  Watford City High School, and the new  Watford City  Elementary School. Read More

Roundup - A ground breaking was held Monday morning for the new Family Dollar Store which will be built in Sunrise Village, at the corner of 4th and Holly in Sidney. According to Susie Cavanaugh, director of sales for Sunrise Village, the 10,000 sg. ft. store will be built by Ryan Forsyth from Utah, and be completed by the end of the year.  Read More
Tourism is Williston's Third Largest Industry; KXMD Feature on Historical Sites
KXNet - Sitting on the North Dakota/Montana border, a trio of historic sites date back almost 200 years. The three are chock-full of American history and can be a great summer destination for history buffs or anyone who happens to travel through the area. Fort Union Trading Post was one of the first things out on the plains in this region. About 15,000 visitors come every year, especially fur-trade enthusiasts looking to learn about trade networks from the 19th century. Read More
