XWA to feature Restaurant, Bar and Gift Shop

Williston Economic Development - Traveling to and from Williston will be much more enjoyable at the new Williston Basin International Airport (XWA)! The new terminal will feature a full-service bar and restaurant, grab-and-go snacks and drinks, vending machines plus a gift shop. "A lot of these amenities we don't have at Sloulin Field, so they will make XWA a much more attractive facility for both the airlines and passengers," said Williston Economic Development Executive Director Shawn Wenko. Read More

Williston Works Podcast Season 2 - Overland Aviation
The first episode of the Williston Works Podcast Season 2 features Overland Aviation. Tanner Overland is expanding his business to the new Williston Basin International Airport (XWA). 
Williston Economic Development - Williston Economic Development has released the second season of its Williston Works podcast. The series features entrepreneurs, small business owners and stakeholders who have utilized the Williston STAR Fund to help growth their business and make Williston a better community. The first episode features Tanner Overland, owner of Overland Aviation.
Airport Boardings up nearly 1,800 in July; Ness visits XWA

Williston Economic Development - The president of the North Dakota Petroleum Council was in Williston this week. During his visit, Ron Ness toured the new Williston Basin International Airport. Passenger boardings at the current airport, Sloulin Field International Airport (ISN) are up again in July. The latest numbers report 8,420 enplanements in 2019 compared to 6,639 in 2018. The first plane is scheduled to arrive at the new XWA on October 10, 2019.

KUMV-TV - According to the U.S. Census Bureau, North Dakota has the highest percentage of millennials in the country, and multiple studies show Williston is one of the best cities for them to live. Williston Economic Development employees say the success rate of their internship program proves that to be true, as many young people who participate end up calling Williston home. Read More

Chamber of Commerce - The last ten weeks I spent at the Williston Area Chamber of Commerce were more trans-formative than I could have imagined. I expected to come to Williston, work, and then leave. However, through my internship at the Chamber, I feel more connected to Williston than even my college city of Spokane, WA. I've come to know many of the community activists and organizers in this city. From our Chamber board to the shop owners, there are so many people who care about making Williston a better place to live. Read More
1 Million Cups features Save the MDH and Full Circle Strength Systems
Williston Economic Development - The owners of two separate organizations shared their passions at 1 Million Cups August 7. Nick Ybarra of Save the Maah Daah Hey Foundation talked about his devotion to preserving one of the most difficult endurance trails in the world. "I'm dedicated to improving the condition of the trail for all users; bikers, hikers and horseback riders," he said. Meanwhile, Mitch and Lacee Hughes of Full Circle Strength Systems discussed their travels on the strongest man and woman circuits. "When we go to the big competitions it's almost like a family reunion," said Mitch Hughes. Both organizations are willing to help individuals interested in cycling (or mowing) or getting stronger or fitter. The next 1MC meeting is September 4 at 8:30 a.m. at the Teton Lounge on the WSC campus. The public is welcome to attend.

Williston Economic Development -  Nick Ybarra was one of the featured presenters at 1 Million Cups on Wednesday, August 7. In case you missed the meeting, you can watch Nick deliver a speech about his passion, saving the Maah Daah Hey Trail, from the 2018 TEDxFargo event.

Construction begins on Long X Bridge

Construction of the new Long X Bridge on US Highway 85 south of Watford City will began i n late July. Construction consists of bridge replacement, wildlife crossing structure, grading, guardrail and incidentals. Motorists will continue to utilize the current Long X Bridge while the new bridge is being constructed.     Read More
New Park opens in Watford City

McKenzie County Farmer - The Watford City Park District will be holding the grand opening of the Kent Pelton Nature Park on August 15. "We've been on this project for 100 years now," joked Robin Arndt, Watford City Parks and Recreation director. The BBQ will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Harmon Park. Burgers or brats, sauerkraut, beans, chips, dessert, pop or water for $5. All proceeds benefit the local United Way.
