New: Department of Education Survey
The Iowa Department of Education is seeking input from parents and/or guardians regarding Iowa’s current rules for school districts. These accreditation standards, which are outlined in Iowa Administrative Code 281 chapter 12, define requirements for providing a standard-level of education with a focus on improving the learning, achievement and performance of all students.

Parents and families of students in preschool through grade 12 are invited to share thoughts and opinions on these rules by completing the Chapter 12 Survey. The online survey can be completed anytime from now through October 7, 2022. You can access the survey by clicking on the following link: bit.ly/iowafamily-fall2022

New this year is that all money raised will go to benefit ALL of our Xavier Catholic School TEACHERS (PK-12)!

We are still looking for a few great volunteers across our parishes to help us with this effort. The continued success of the appeal is due to the leadership and support of our wonderful parish volunteers. Action Item: Attention Needed to Receive Future Alerts & Weather Related Announcements
Earlier this week we sent test text messages through our alert system. Due to some security changes in the program that we use to send these alerts, please note one important change: This year every phone number in PowerSchool that wishes to receive these alerts MUST be marked “Yes” for SMS.

If you received the test messages on 9/27, you do not need to do anything. If you filled out the Google form or emailed Meg Hansen directly, your changes have been made for you and you do not need to do anything.

To make changes in PowerSchool yourself:

  1. Log into PowerSchool at xcs.powerschool.com/public
  2. Click on “Update Contacts” in the left column
  3. Select the contact that you wish to update
  4. Under Phones you will see a column titled SMS, select “Yes”
  5. Click SAVE CHANGES at the bottom right

If you run into troubles and prefer to have the changes made for you, please fill out this form ASAP. We will be sending another test next week.

Please email meg.hansen@xaviersaints.org if you have any questions.
