Gadi Slade: Defender of Israel, Dedicated Father, Investor
Born in Haifa, Gadi Slade is a fifth-generation Israeli on his father’s side and third on his mother’s. His great-grandfather helped found the first Jewish agricultural settlement in 1881, and several family members gave their lives in Israel’s early wars. Gadi spent his childhood between Tel Aviv and New York City, eventually settling back in Israel as a teen.
After high school, he served in Israeli military intelligence from 1989 to 1992, working on Israel’s missile defense during the First Gulf War. A visit to a friend at Dartmouth inspired him to pursue college in the U.S. After completing his service, he enrolled at Stanford, earning a BAS in Industrial Engineering and Psychology in 1996.
He returned to Tel Aviv to work in consulting, then earned his MBA at Harvard Business School in 2000. Guided by a course on aligning career with personal values, Gadi chose asset management—a field offering intellectual challenge and work-life balance.
He joined Capital Group in 2001 after a seven-month global backpacking trip. Over two decades, he specialized in telecom and media investments across Europe, Latin America, and Africa. He became a partner and later helped develop new investment products.
Gadi married a British lawyer in 2003. After stints in London and New York, they settled in Westport, with their three children. In 2022, after 21 years with Capital Group, Gadi retired to focus on family, travel, and personal growth. One current interest is learning about Alzheimer’s prevention—his mother suffered from early-onset Alzheimer’s, and he’s now deeply engaged in understanding the latest research.
He manages his own investments, studies Portuguese, and actively supports Israel through AIPAC and lobbying in Washington, DC.
He joined the Ys Men to meet interesting people and learn. As he says, “the longer you’ve lived, the more you’ve learned and have to share.” Click here for the full article on Slade.
