Rob Fishman
Growing up in Hewlett, N.Y., Rob practiced and played classical saxophone on a vintage Selmer Mark VI. At Duke University, Rob was the drum major in the marching band. By the time he attended Boston University School of Medicine, he was, unfortunately, compelled to sell his sax to pay for his microscope which turned out to be a very good investment! Thirty-three years later, Rob bought a similar Mark VI alto and started on a journey to learn jazz.
Rob met his wife Susan while both were cardiology fellows at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Rob, Sue, and their children Daniel and Emily moved to Westport in 1996 from Chicago where both Rob and Sue were on the faculty at Northwestern Medical School in the Division of Cardiology.
Daniel is currently Vice President of Public Events at Bryant Park and is married to Rachel who is also a VP at Bryant Park. Emily and her husband Alex are cardiology fellows at Yale. In retirement, Sue follows her passion for art and design. Retirement has allowed Rob and Sue time for babysitting their grandson in NYC. A true blessing!
Rob’s happy place is under the water. He began diving in the cold waters off Rockport and Gloucester, Mass. in the early 1980s. He and his brother David became enamored with the island of Bonaire around the same time. David is now President of Reef Renewal Bonaire, a coral reef restoration group on the island.
Rob and Sue enjoy spending time on Bonaire where Rob volunteers in coral reef restoration efforts. Bonaire has become a true second home for Rob and Sue. Rob says that "Life is Good."
