New Member Spotlights:

Bob Levy

Bob Levy: A Bronx to Westport Tale

Born in the Bronx in 1946, Bob Levy grew up eight blocks from Yankee Stadium before his family moved to Deepdale Gardens in Queens. Bob had a typical childhood for those days—out playing with neighborhood kids at all hours. Bob’s passion for the stock market began early, as he and his father debated at the kitchen table which stocks he should buy with money from after-school jobs.

After graduating from high school in 1964, Bob attended C.W. Post College on Long Island, but soon realized his ambitions lay elsewhere. Determined to become a stockbroker, he took an entry-level job at Loeb Rhoades and earned his broker’s license just before the late-1960s bear market. A chance encounter over a ping-pong game proved pivotal, leading to a major client relationship that transformed his career. Over the next five decades, Bob built a reputation as a trusted financial advisor, retiring in 2018.

Bob, his wife Doree, and their two daughters moved to Westport in 1988 so their younger daughter, born with intellectual disabilities, could receive the special support she needed. They remain deeply involved with STAR Inc., a nonprofit supporting children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, where Doree serves as Board President.

In retirement, Bob stays busy with his grandchildren, sports, Torah study, volunteer fundraising, and teaching boxing classes for people with Parkinson’s at the Y. Four years ago, he took up swimming at the Y—and it’s been a true joy. Always ready with a good story, Bob looks forward to new connections, learning new things, and being an active member of the Y’s Men.

Clark Lindberg

Clark Lindberg: From Global CPA to Entrepreneur and Artist

Clark Lindberg's life has been defined by intellectual curiosity and reinvention. Raised in San Diego, California, as a high school student, he won the San Diego County science fair sweepstakes, landing a job at General Atomic Laboratories as a student casual employee. He was also the high school annual photographer, a public speaker who successfully competed nationally, and a choral singer, and began his boating and sailing interests with his first sailboat at 12 years of age—early signs of his multifaceted nature.

At San Diego State University, he initially pursued Chemistry and Nuclear Physics before realizing that the humanities were a better fit. Marriage to his high school sweetheart, Elaine, and the arrival of their first daughter sent him to the counseling center for career guidance, where he was advised to become a CPA. He changed majors again, added a fifth year for another degree, earned a degree in accounting, passed the CPA exam, and landed a job with a top firm in 1966.

Clark’s accounting career took the family from San Diego to San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, New York City, and Brussels, Belgium, where he headed Ernst & Whitney's European Tax practice. This was followed by a transfer to Houston, and with the Ernst & Young merger, he seized the opportunity to move to a San Diego-based firm in 1989 to be close to his ailing parents.

In 1991, Clark shifted from advisor to operator, becoming the CEO of a large luxury goods distributor that represented major European and US designers. He later pursued entrepreneurship, patenting vehicle-monitoring technology and establishing a loyalty-program business. He describes this period as idyllic, living aboard a powerboat at the San Diego Yacht Club, barbecuing on deck, and ending the day with sunset cruises on their sailboat.

In 2004, Clark joined AIG’s corporate risk management team, where he was directly engaged in the company’s restatement and restructuring, and in establishing its Enterprise Risk Management structure as Director. After retiring in 2009, he and Elaine lived in Naples, Florida, where Clark rekindled his passion for photography and served as president of two community arts organizations. They later moved to his birthplace, Galesburg, Illinois, before settling in Westport in 2025 to be near their daughters, five granddaughters, and four great-granddaughters in Darien.
