Norman is a tri-state guy, born in Brooklyn, where he lived for 14 years, then moving to New Jersey, and after college living and working mostly in Connecticut. The Brooklyn years were great, as Norman lived in a 2-family house with his cousins in the upstairs apartment and good friends just down the block. Norman went to high school in New Jersey and stayed in the state to attend Rutgers College, with one of his college years spent at the University of Mexico, in Mexico City.
After college, Norman moved to Connecticut to join GE’s Financial Management Program, and he worked at GE Capital for 10 years before leaving with a group of senior managers to go to a start-up financial services business. The business was eventually acquired by NationsBank (now Bank of America), and Norman remained at BofA for the next 15 years. Along the way, Norman got his MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business.
Norman retired from BofA in 2017, and, a few months later, he un-retired to work at Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), a nonprofit organization focusing on lending and investing in affordable housing and supporting underserved communities and rural areas, where he remained until June 2026. In addition to his career in the financial services industry, for the past 25+ years, Norman has been teaching indoor cycling classes at the Westport Weston YMCA, the Wilton YMCA, and corporate gyms in New Haven and Manhattan.
Norman and his wife, Susan, who grew up in Mississippi, have lived in Westport for more than 30 years, and they have a son, Jacob. Norman has served on the Westport Library’s Board of Trustees, and more recently he has been reading to a first-grade class in Bridgeport each week and is on the Homes with Hope Affordable Housing Advisory Council. His hobbies include reading contemporary fiction (he has been a reader for the Westport Prize for Literature), exercising, going into NYC to see shows and visit museums, citibiking® around Manhattan, and traveling with Susan.
