Life Talk Group Meets This Tuesday Afternoon
The Y’s Men Life Talk Group will meet from 2:00 to 3:30 pm this Tuesday (March 11) in Room 109-110 at the Saugatuck Congregational Church.
The topic will be Your Reverse Bucket List. As opposed to a bucket list, which includes all of the wonderful things you want to do before you die, a reverse bucket list is exactly what it sounds like: the opposite of a bucket list.
Instead of looking forward, it looks back at the amazing things you’ve already done. The gift of a reverse bucket list is how it makes us grateful for our life story as it is.
For information about the Y’s Men Life Talk Group, or to be added to the Group’s email distribution list, please contact Larry Ackerman at: larry@larryackerman.com.

History and Future of Higher Education Discussed Thursday | |
|
Marc R. Nemec, President of Fairfield University, spoke to Y's Men last Thursday.
Fairfield University President Mark R. Nemec spoke to Y's Men last Thursday
in a presentation that featured a lesson in American higher education history, philosophy and values. His topic, “Advancing Higher Education’s Future: History, Context and Our Way Forward” gave background on American higher education, Jesuit university contributions, all beginning with the founding of Harvard in 1635. Harvard catered essentially only to the elites in society. Today’s institutions reach out to a much wider demographic, which, he said, face some existential challenges.
Of particular timeliness to the Y’s Men and, considering the nation’s shift to a much larger population of seniors, he discussed the critical importance of current higher educational institutions staying relevant by offering more robust learning opportunities aimed at an older demographic.
