Fairfield University President Speaks to Y's Men Tomorrow | |
|
Dr. Mark Nemec
Many Y’s Men know Fairfield University primarily through attending events at the Quick Center for the Arts. But during the past eight years, under the leadership of its President, Dr. Mark Nemec, the University has emerged on the national level as an academic, and even athletic, powerhouse.
Dr. Nemec will give us some insight on how Fairfield University has become one of the top 125 national universities, one of the top 12 percent of colleges for salary impact, grown its enrollment by 25 percent and contributed $1 billion to our local economy. He may even talk about his rugby prowess and how the Fairfield University Women’s Basketball team became “the other CT women’s team” in the NCAA Division 1 top 25.
He will share his nationally recognized insights on the current and future state of higher education – measuring the NPV of going to college and redefining the missions of our colleges and universities for the 21st Century.
Y's Men Thursday morning meetings are in Hoskins Hall downstairs in the Saugatuck Congregational Church, 245 Post Road East in Westport. As always, donut and bagel social hour 9:00 to 10:00 am, short business meeting at 10:00, and speaker starts at 10:30 finishing no later than 11:30. Come early and meet your fellow members. Guests are always welcome.

Staples Stradivarius Chamber Orchestra in performance yesterday for Y's Men.
The Saugatuck Congregational Church Sanctuary was the site of another memorable showcase for Staples High School orchestral music yesterday.
A concert by the Staples Stradivarius Chamber Orchestra was further evidence that Staples musicians come to school with a love of the arts embedded in their DNA. The program of varied classical compositions delighted an audience of Y's Men and their guests, as well as many parents of the performers.
It was an afternoon to welcome spring with music that makes life better and another Y's Men's musical hit. Enjoy the video of this wonderful performance by clicking the button below.
