Vayeitzei - Why Did Yaakov Avinu Fall Asleep? - (Video, 7:04)
During his 14 years as a student of Shem veEver, Yaakov Avinu didn't have a single night's rest because he was immersed in Torah study (Rashi on Bereishis/Genesis 28:9-11). But when he arrived at the holiest place on earth and was about to receive one of the most significant prophecies of his life, he allowed himself to fall asleep. Why? Speaker: Rabbi Nasan Maimon.

Rabbi Rosenfeld gave this shiur in Kislev 5735 (1974) on the day he returned from a journey to Eretz Yisrael. He shares words of encouragement about the festival of Chanukah and the Land of Israel just as powerfully now as he did then. May his memory be as a blessing.
