General

Communion Ministry

Are you interested in serving our St. Al’s community in a special way? We are currently looking for volunteers to be part of the communion ministry at St. Al’s! Volunteers will bring Holy Communion to parishioners that are sick or homebound on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis. Typically volunteers have brought communion Monday after the 8am mass, however, the timing could be adjusted based on the volunteer’s schedule. Typically it takes about 1.5 hrs to distribute communion depending on how many parishioners you are visiting. Please contact Stephanie Sullivan at stephanie.lazar523@gmail.com for more information!

Safe Families "Blessing Bag" Assembly

Wednesday, April 12 | 7pm

St. Alphonsus Rectory - First Floor "Board Room"

1429 W Wellington Ave, Chicago IL 60657

Please join us for a short 1-hour service event to assemble our "Blessing Bags".

Now that our parish groups have done the hard work of gathering donated items for our Safe Families "Blessing Bags" during Lent, now we have the honor of assembling them!

- What to bring? YOURSELF! We already have plenty of donated items.

- Who can come? ANYONE! Especially those in participating parish groups (YAM, small groups, Men's Group, RCIA, Philosophy Forum, etc.)

Helpful Context: When a child arrives at a SFFC "host family" house, they often don't come with much... maybe an extra outfit or two, but rarely anything beyond that.

While our wonderful SFFC supply closet in Festival Hall already has "the basics" clothes and toys for these kids, we would also LOVE to provide the child and host family with a "Safe Families Blessing Bag" to make the child feel extra loved and welcome... and to save the host family an expensive last-minute trip to Target and/or a Beauty Supply store!
