What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions.
It works with the structure and function of the body, and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.
Osteopaths use touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help your body's own healing mechanisms.
They may also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.
Conditions we treat
Although osteopaths treat many conditions, most people think of us as 'back specialists'. Back pain is what many osteopaths treat a lot of the time but we also treat arthritic pain, muscle spasms, neck ache, frozen shoulders, joint pains, whiplash, wrist and hand ailments, minor sports injuries and many more.
Osteopathic treatment not only targets pain symptoms but also treats the parts of the body that have caused the symptoms. Osteopaths have a holistic approach and believe that your whole body will work well if your body is in good structural balance.
The clinic currently has 4 Osteopaths, Stuart Bentley (Clinical Director), Julian Crossley (Clinical Director), Annette Hastie and Vanessa Robinson. Each practitioners working days vary from Monday-Friday between 8.30am - 7.00pm.
