Good Afternoon!
This past Wednesday, we recognized our teachers who were nominated by the YEF for a the Fostering Future Award! Those nominated will be invited to attend a special ceremony. Guess what?! I'm SO proud to share ALL of our staff were nominated (every, single individual). THANK YOU! This speaks to the support you have for YGS; we appreciate the parent nominations. Furthermore, it shows the value of our entire team. Teamwork makes the dream work and it takes ALL of us to keep our ship moving forward. We surprised our teachers at an all school assembly which was very special.

Enjoy the weekend ahead,

Warmly,
Mrs. Lech, Principal

A Message from our Librarian Mrs. McHugh:
Author/illustrator Adam Rex will be visiting our students on April 14th! We will celebrate all things humor & picture books with him, and get a drawing demo, too! If you'd like to order one of Adam's books, please return the order form that came home this week to your school library by Thursday, March 17th. On that same form you will find information about our bubblegum-hair contest (no, not real gum, don't worry!) - and if your family would like to participate, please see this link!  https://padlet.com/sjmchugh/669t4koic5wx
Excited for all of the laughs we will have together with such a beloved creator of children's books; thanks for supporting the fun!

Did you know about Read with Paws?
Once a month on Saturday, PAWS brings their therapy dogs to the library. Children can come to the library, select a book and read to a furry friend. All therapy dogs and handlers have been certified by an accredited organization. This program was designed originally because children feel less pressure to read to a dog than an adult; so it was meant to be a way to help struggling readers or even just encourage reading. It is open to all levels of readers and non-readers. Please register for your 15 minute time slot at the Youth Services desk or by phone. Space is limited.

Upcoming Dates:.

  • Sunday, March 13th: Daylight Savings
  • Monday, March 14-17th: IAR (state testing) for 3rd grade
