This week the community is encouraged to join the PTO and me in celebrating the wonderful staff at YGS! Nurse's Week is May 6th-12th along with Y115's Teacher Appreciation Week! Tomorrow we will honor Nurse Bryn, as she ensures our students are healthy and safe every day! Throughout the week, you are encouraged to honor all of the staff at YGS. The PTO has put together a handout (click here for a PDF) outlining ways your child can honor their teachers throughout the week! Be sure to remember all staff, such as our paraprofessionals, specials teachers, special education team members, clerical staff, and custodians. Every person at YGS makes our school a welcoming and safe environment for our students and YGS would not be the same without them! Let's celebrate how amazing they are by spoiling them with kindness!

The ABC Countdown to the end of the school year is going by quickly! There are only 15 more days of school left this year. Tomorrow we will have lunch outside to celebrate the letter L. Tuesday is Marker Day where students will get to use markers in class. Nickname Day is Wednesday, so be sure to help your child think of a school-appropriate nickname. Outside Day is Thursday where some grade levels will travel to Beecher Park to hopefully enjoy some warm, sunny weather. We will all be pirates on Friday in celebration of the letter P and Pirate Day! Students are encouraged to dress like school appropriate pirates!

Tuesday night is the final PTO meeting of the year. Please join the PTO Board and me on Tuesday, May 8th from 6:30-7:30 in the library at YGS.

No problem! If your child needs to leave early from school, please inform the office by sending a note or calling prior to 3pm.  The office will be sure to inform your child's teacher and the teacher will ensure your child is packed and ready to be dismissed when requested. However, the office will not call your child down, nor will the teacher send your child down to the office, until you have arrived to pick them up. There could be a change in your plans, such as traffic, which may impact your arrival time. We want to make sure we maximize the amount of instruction time your child has. As soon as you arrive for pick up, we will call your child down to be dismissed. Thank you for understanding and please let the office know if you have questions.
