June 4, 2020

Greetings everyone,

In the midst of this challenging week, one word keeps coming to mind: Resilience .
A familiar word to New Orleanians and what we need now.

Dr. Patrick Gannon , a clinical and performance psychologist & YGT supporter, reminds us that resilience is a process- something we can learn and apply in life. He's kindly shared his insights with us on strength in the face of adversity and skills you can learn to foster that strength. We'll dig in to one strategy each week from his recent webinar, Building Resilience in the Face of COVID-19 .

This week, the first strategy is to reach out to others and build social connections. Maintaining a sense of community for social and emotional support is vital during this time. That means nurturing relationships, adapting to new methods of socializing, and trying not to externalize our feelings (especially anger, frustration, etc) onto others. Ask yourself - Are you coming together or are you pulling apart?

Look out for one another and remember, YOU GOT THIS!
