Young Israel E-mail Update
Young Israel's 5th Annual Rosh Hashanah 'Treats for Troops' Project

Young Israel of Memphis once again has the opportunity to play a role in lifting the spirits of some of our country's brave Jewish troops, who are far away from a normal Yom Tov setting. Years ago, I got to know Rabbi Shaul Rappeport who was then serving as a rabbi in a small Pennsylvania community. Since then, Rabbi Rappeport 'switched pulpits' and serves as a Chaplain in the US Air Force.

In 2020, Chaplain Rappeport was re-assigned to the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. The care packages our Shul sent to him last summer were distributed to -- and greatly appreciated by -- the Jewish cadets at the US Air Force Academy (USAFA).

In partnership with Memphis' own Ricki's Cookie Corner, Young Israel is preparing to send Rabbi Rappeport another 36 care packages of cookies and Challah rolls (along with notes from YI) to distribute to Jewish USAFA cadets before Rosh Hashanah. We also plan to send a special gift of Challahs and a tin of cookies for the Rappeport family to enjoy over Yom Tov.

Please consider joining me in sponsoring a Rosh Hashanah care package (or more) at only $12.00 each. Please email me at rabbi@yiom.org (or sponsor online by clicking the last yellow "Donate" button HERE) ASAP to help bring this heart-warming YI project to fruition. Thank You!____________________
