Family YMCA of Black Hawk County
ON THE FRONTLINES AND
PLANNING A SAFE REOPENING
GIVING TUESDAY

Thank you for helping keep our Y strong. As we mentioned on Tuesday our annual campaign, a critical support for our YMCA's livelihood, has been delayed due to this global pandemic. If you would like to pledge or renew your annual gift, please do today!
Thank you for staying with us - we are so grateful for the continued membership payments and gifts we are receiving to help keep us strong.
REOPENING STRATEGIES
Over the last week, the Iowa Alliance of YMCA's and our leadership team has had many discussions around reopening strategies, and we look forward to being together again.

Currently, we are awaiting the Governor and Iowa Department of Public Health to give us recommendation for reopening clearance in Black Hawk County. At this time, our facility in Waterloo will be closed through May 15th, and we will announce a phased reopening in the coming days with social responsibility and safety in focus.
As we prepare, please continue to be patient with us while we place new guidelines to be followed in order to keep you and those we serve safe. We will post a virtual tour of our Y in the next week so you know what to expect and what areas and program will be open.

In Grundy Center, we are reopening this Monday, May 12th ! This is such exciting news and we have some procedures to adhere to:

  • Only Grundy Family YMCA members who have this branch as their "home branch" will be allowed to visit
  • For this first phase of reopening, we will have a maximum of 6 members at a time, so stay tuned to schedule and sign up for entry
  • We will post a virtual tour this weekend what what to expect and how we plan to maintain a high level of cleanliness
  • No day passes or visitors (AWAY members) at this time
  • For more questions, please email info@blackhawkymca.org

We will continue emergency childcare in this time and serving our community through food distribution and well check calls to those who are most vulnerable. Thank you for being flexible, hopeful and generous as we continue to serve the Cedar Valley. We are eager to be together again!
With kindness and great hope,

Angela Widner
