December 10, 2020
Dear Y Member:
We see a dim light at the end of a long tunnel. With Britain and Canada both approving vaccines and the United States to soon follow; we can see the beginning of that light. The tunnel is long, likely several tough months to come, but the light is there.
Now is the time to double down, push aside “COVID fatigue", and continue to work together to help everyone in Marion remain healthy. Together, we can help OhioHealth Marion General Hospital care for those who are most ill. Together, we can help Marion’s businesses remain open and vibrant.
This effort includes continuing to require masks at the Y while exercising. We’re extending our current mask policy through at least December 31. Our mask policy is that everyone wears a mask at all times in the Y facility including while exercising. The only exceptions are children younger than kindergarten-age, while in a pool and when a member is in their designated spot during a Group Exercise class.
We know what works to reduce the spread of COVID19 and keep more of our Marion family, friends and neighbors safe. Please show COVID Courage by staying home as much as possible. When you are out wear your mask over your mouth and nose, stay six feet from others, and wash your hands often. Let’s get through this together.
Governor DeWine is asking all of us to follow new "Stay Safe Ohio Protocols" for the next 21 days. Central to these are staying home unless being out & about is essential, wearing a mask, washing hands and stay apart from others. You can watch his address here.
Thank you for being a member of the Y. As a member, you're part of an association of people strengthening our community. You're part of our work to provide child care in pandemic conditions, to provide virtual fitness classes for those staying home, to provide a welcoming environment to everyone in Marion who enters our Y. Thank you.
UPDATES AND REMINDERS:
COVID EXPOSURE AT THE Y
We continue to follow all Responsible Restart Ohio protocols for fitness, child care, pools and sports along with internal protocols, including requiring masks, that go beyond requirements.
Today, we learned that an individual was in our Wellness Center on Monday afternoon / evening who later tested positive for COVID19. Although we clean and disinfect continually, we did additional disinfecting in the Wellness Center before reopening at 3:15 pm this afternoon. We're not aware of anyone who was with 6 feet of this individual, but encourage all of our members to be vigilant in monitoring yourself for symptoms and stay home if you're not feeling well.
All of our health protocols, including our building entry requirements, help reduce the risk of exposure, but they can't eliminate it. Please protect yourself and others by keeping your mask over your mouth and nose, washing your hands, staying 6 feet from others and disinfecting your equipment before and after use.
VIRTUAL FITNESS CLASSES
Due to limited availability of lifeguards, we’re making pool schedules week by week. Access the pool schedules by clicking on the following links.
Join our staff team in developing the potential of youth. We have current openings for child care staff members working with preschool and elementary school age children.
