YMCA Receives Grant from Cape Fear Garden Club
YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina has been awarded a $6,000 grant from the Cape Fear Garden Club to add landscaping elements and help beautify the building entry of both the Nir Family YMCA and Midtown YMCA. A variety of plants, in addition to mulch, will be purchased with the funds.
“We are so grateful for the Cape Fear Garden Club’s support,” says Shannon Berg, Director of Operations. “The Y is more than just a place to work out – we’re a place of community. Providing inviting, positive spaces, both indoors and outdoors, helps support our goal of helping adults, children and families live healthier, more productive lives in spirit, mind and body.”
The Cape Fear Garden Club, Inc. in Wilmington, North Carolina is the oldest and largest garden club in North Carolina and among the largest garden clubs in the nation. Cape Fear Garden Club, Inc. promotes beautification projects within New Hanover County through grants made possible by the proceeds from the annual Azalea Garden Tour. The YMCA was one of 26 grant recipients selected this year, which included over $72,000 in grant awards to maintain and enhance the natural beauty of the Cape Fear region.
