Calling all Early Birds!
Monday through Friday the Midtown YMCA opens at 6:00am. We offer open gym from 6:00am-8:00am and have a fantastic Cardio Pump class on Wednesdays at 6:00am. Get your day off to a great start by exercising before you begin your "to do" list!
Evening Classes at the Midtown YMCA
You may have noticed that in the evenings Halo Hoops basketball leagues are in our gym but did you know we also offer some excellent evening Group Exercise classes?

Zumba with Jamie | Mondays 5:15pm - 6:00pm
Jamie is an excellent instructor and has a knack for helping even the beginners keep up with her Zumba moves. The music is great and everyone has fun! Come on and try something new!

Cycle with Naydi | Mondays 5:30pm-6:30pm
Naydi keeps things fun in this fantastic cycling class. If you haven't tried cycling before let her know and she will help you ease into it!

Mindfulness with Tina | Tuesdays 5:30pm-7pm
Sharing the joy of mindful living is Tina's passion and purpose. Mindfulness can help ease stress, anxiety and depression. Suggested donation: $8.

Basic Yoga with Wendy | Tuesdays 6:00pm-7:00pm
This basic Yoga class is a great way to end your day. All levels are welcome!
Spring Youth Sports Just Around the Corner
YMCA Youth Sports promote healthy kids, families and communities by placing a priority on family involvement, healthy competition, the value of participation over winning, and team building. The first day of spring is about 70 days away but registration for youth spring sports is up and available now! We have some fantastic programs and amazing coaches.

Community Health Offerings
We are so excited to kick off the New Year with some great health and wellness education programs for everyone in our community. These are researched based programs with proven results.

Diabetes Prevention Program
If you have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes by your physician, you may qualify for our YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program. The next class is scheduled to start on Tuesday, Feb. 5 th at 1:00pm. We encourage anyone who is interested in our Diabetes Prevention Program to come to an information screening on January 22nd from 12:30pm-3:30pm at the Nir Family YMCA to see if you qualify. 


Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring
If you have hypertension and would like support with monitoring blood pressure at home and making some healthy lifestyle changes to help lower blood pressure, then the Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program may be the right program for you. In this program you will meet with a trained and certified Healthy Heart Ambassador twice a month and learn how to check your blood pressure with monitor and track your readings. Learn more at our information session on January 22nd from 12:30pm-3:30pm at the Nir Family YMCA.


Moving For Better Balance
Is it time to improve your balance and reduce your risk of falls? If you are an adult 60 years or older, and able to walk without the use of a cane or walker, the YMCA Moving for Better Balance, Tai Chi based Program may be the right program for you. In this 12 week program participants receive a binder illustrating tai chi moves learned in class as well as strengthening exercises that you can practice at home to increase strength and balance. This program is an evidenced based program and has shown to significantly reduce risk of falls. Learn more at our information session on January 22nd from 12:30pm-3:30pm at the Nir Family YMCA.


Healthy Weight & Your Child
Do you have a child who is carrying excess weight? Would you like support to help you and your child make some healthy lifestyle changes? Through the YMCA Evidence Based Healthy Weight & Your Child Program, you will have others in the group who also share similar challenges. This program offers guidance with making lifestyle changes to help you and your child develop the awareness and improve healthy eating as well as discovering fun ways to get more active. 

Information and Screening: Friday February 22nd 5:30-7:30 pm at our Midtown YMCA. It is important to attend this screening in order to see if your child qualifies for this program. Our First class will start on Friday, March 8th.

Senior Combo at the Midtown YMCA
Are you ready to start the New Year on the right foot? Get into a regular exercise routine with a class or two or three! Join our Senior Combo class! This popular class combines some stretching, some cardio and some strength training.

Classes offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:15am - 11:15am
Give Pickleball a Try!
Join the Pickleball Craze! Find out why it is the fastest growing sport in America! Take a beginner Pickleball Lesson at the Nir Family YMCA, on Monday, January 14th from 11:00am-12:00pm. Equipment is provided. Free to Members, $5 for Non-members.

Midtown YMCA offers beginner Pickleball lessons every Monday at 1:30pm in the Midtown YMCA gym. Lessons are geared to brand new or beginner pickleball players. Equipment is provided and we promise it will be informative and fun! Free to Members, $5 for Non-members.


Advanced Pickleball Lessons
YMCA Pickleball Instructors Eileen Kalish and Jill Vargas will be offering lessons again at the Midtown YMCA this month. Register at the Midtown YMCA front desk.

Due to the popularity of the lessons, payment is required at the time of registration and there will be no refunds. If you need to cancel please find your own replacement for the lesson and let us know at the front desk!

Thursdays, 1/17, 1/24, 1/31 12:00pm-1;30pm Levels 3.0-3.5

PARENTS' NIGHT OUT!
We are not sure who is going to have more fun... the parents getting a night out or the kids who get to hang at the new Nir Family YMCA! Parents' Night Out is for kids ages 3 to 15 (must be potty trained) on the last Friday night of the month.

MIDTOWN Y CLOSURE
Midtown Y will be closed for a NHRMC conference Monday, February 4th at 11:30am and will re-open on Thursday, February 7th at 5pm. This is a great time to check out the Nir Family Y!
