ANTI-HUNGER ALL STAR
When children are hungry, it is difficult to lead a productive day, to focus on tasks or schoolwork, and hunger can lead to increased hyperactivity and aggression. That is why we’re working to ensure children have access to healthy meals & snacks through our youth programs.

Under the leadership of our Director of Nutrition and Community Engagement, Sarah Broekhoven, MS, RDN, LDN, the YMCA of the Capital Area served 45,491 meals and snacks this Summer to our Campers.

We were able to accomplish this feat through our partnership with Three O’clock Project. Sarah was recognized as an Anti-Hunger All Star by YMCA of the USA, and she would like to recognize and applaud the collective effort of our Summer Camp Directors and counselors who made all the hard work possible.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
This month's Member Spotlight is Hattie Fletcher!

Hattie is a member of the Americana YMCA and she loves to come to the pool every morning. At the beginning of the summer, Hattie took swim lessons, and John, the morning guard, would give her tips and encouragement after the lessons. She learned how to swim and she spends everyday overcoming her fear of water and swimming.
