JOIN US TO CELEBRATE THE TERRY & TARA SOLAR ARRAY
Please join us at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3 at the YMCA, 570 York Street as we celebrate the completion of the Terry & Tara Solar Array.
This special event will mark the official launch of the 100 KW solar installation and include the unveiling of a dedication plaque recognizing the generosity of Tara Savage, whose endowment to the Fredericton Trails Coalition helped make this meaningful project possible.
| | |
The 100 kW solar installation will help offset the energy requirements of the YMCA daycare and four kilometres of city trails, creating a lasting environmental legacy that will benefit our community for years to come.
We are also grateful to the major sponsors who helped bring this initiative to life, including the Regional Development Corporation, Trans Canada Trail and RBC Foundation.
We hope you will join us as we celebrate generosity, sustainability and a lasting investment in our community.

Y Stories: Community In Action
Meet Brian!
Brian’s YMCA journey began at just nine years old, taking swim lessons at the Saint John YMCA. Since then, the YMCA has been woven through every stage of his life – from youth programs and staying active after university to aquafit, personal training, and serving as President of the Fredericton YMCA Board of
| | | Directors. What started as a place to stay active became so much more. Through the YMCA, Brian built lifelong friendships that extended well beyond the fitness centre, leading to golf outings, Christmas and lobster parties, regular walks with friends, and countless moments of connection. Along the way, he also gave back by teaching the Y Way to a Healthy Back program and supporting community initiatives that have strengthened Fredericton. | | | | When asked what the YMCA means to him, Brian’s answer is simple: people. He describes it as an inclusive place where everyone belongs – a place where people are welcomed without judgment and encouraged to be their best, physically, mentally, and emotionally. For Brian, it’s the friendships, sense of community, and opportunities to make a difference that have kept him involved over the years. To him, there is no other place quite like the YMCA. | |
They’re Back! Power Up, Family Friend & F.I.R.E. Return This Fall
Fall at the YMCA means the return of some of our important community programs! We’re excited to welcome back Power Up, Family Friend and F.I.R.E., three programs designed to help youth and families connect, build confidence and feel a sense of belonging at the Y.
| | | |
Power Up is a leadership program for youth ages 12 to 15, giving participants opportunities to develop leadership skills, build confidence and make new connections. As part of the program, participants also receive a complimentary four-month YMCA membership, giving them the chance to stay active and explore everything the Y has to offer.
Family Friend provides support and connection for single parents and their children. Families come together for regular programming, friendship and a home-cooked meal. Participants also receive complimentary YMCA memberships, helping the whole family stay active, get involved and feel connected to their community.
And Friday nights are about to get a little more exciting with the return of F.I.R.E.! This youth drop-in program (12 - 15 yrs.) gives young people a welcoming place to spend their Friday evenings, connect with friends and enjoy time together at the Y.
Each program is a little different, but they all have something important in common: creating opportunities for people to connect, belong and thrive.
We’re so happy to welcome Power Up, Family Friend and F.I.R.E. back for another great year at the YMCA!
Dates:
Power Up will run from September 17 - November 19.
Family Friend starts September 9
F.I.R.E starts September 11.
