We are looking forward to having you with us at the YMCA Wrightsville Beach Sprint Triathlon this Saturday.
Please know your bib number before coming to packet pickup.
EVENT INFORMATION:
The official
event details are now posted on our website on the event page.
Please read through this information as it should answer most of the questions that you may have. And, if you would like to have this event information document or any of the
course maps with you at the race, you will need to print them out and bring them with you. These will no longer be passed out at packet pick up.
PACKET PICK-UP:
Race packets may be picked up at the following times & locations:
Friday - September 22nd (noon - 7:30pm) @ Two Wheeler Dealer - 4408 Wrightsville Avenue, Wilmington, NC
Saturday - September 23rd (5 - 6am) @ Race Site Wrightsville Beach Town Hall
If you are a USAT annual member, you are required to show a valid USAT membership card at packet pick-up. Failure to do so will result in having to pay the USAT "one-day" fee of $15. If you have recently renewed your membership, then you must print out a temporary card or receipt of payment to prove that your membership is current.
PHOTO ID REQUIRED:
Please remember that you will be required to show a photo ID in order to pick up your race packet. This is a USA Triathlon requirement. Every participant will be required to pick up his/her own race packet. This includes all relay team members.

RACE DAY PARKING:
Please arrive early to ensure a parking space inside of Wrightsville Beach Park. Access to parking along the run course will be restricted to limit vehicle interference with the active course. Please note that there will be certain areas inside of the park where parking will be allowed, but where you will not be able to leave until the run course is free of participants.
Water Temperature and Wetsuits:
The water temperature will be announced on Thursday by 9pm on the Wilmington YMCA Sprint webpage.
USAT officials will take a water temperature reading early on race morning and the "official" temperature will be announced.
USAT wetsuit rules will apply:
Water temp of 78 degrees or lower - wetsuits are allowed
Water temp of 79 - 83 - you may wear a wetsuit, however, you will not be eligible for race awards or to receive any USAT or NCTS ranking points.
Water temp above 83 - no wetsuits allowed
Athlete Transportation to Swim Start:
Buses and trolleys will be used to transport participants from the main race site location to the swim start location at the Blockade Runner Hotel. These shuttle buses will begin transporting participants at 5:45am. Please don't wait until the last minute to head to swim start. It is ultimately your responsibility to be there on time to start with your assigned swim wave. If all athletes decide to wait until the last shuttle pulls out, obviously not all participants will be able to get on, and some will miss their swim times. Please get on the bus as soon as you are checked in and ready to go. There are port-a-johns at the swim start.
Gear Bags for Swim Start:
Participants are given the option of taking a bag out to swim start with them for their personal belongings (an extra layer of clothes, etc.) that they can place in the bag and turn in at a designated area in the swim start location. Once all athletes enter the water, the bags will be returned to the finish area and placed in numeric order for pick up. There will be a table in the finish area with white bags and markers. We ask all athletes that opt to check a bag, to write their race number on it and tie it shut before turning it in at the swim start.
No Spectator Access at the Swim Start or Swim Finish:
Unfortunately, due to limited space and with the safety of our participants in mind, all spectators are asked to stay away from the swim start and the swim finish areas. No spectator transportation will be provided to the swim start and NO SPECTATORS ARE ALLOWED TO RIDE THE ATHLETE SHUTTLES. And, since vehicle traffic will not be allowed in the area, there is really no way for spectators to get to the swim start. Also, the swim finishes on private property and the owners have asked to limit the traffic there to athletes, volunteers and race staff only. As soon as you exit the swim and get close to the transition area, your loved ones will be able to see you and cheer you on as you begin the bike portion of the race.
It is very important to the future of this event that these rules are followed. No spectators at the swim start or at the swim finish. Thank you for your help with this.
Have a great week. We can't wait to see you this weekend!
