YOU BELONG HERE WITH US!
Whether you are a volunteer, a reader of our newsletter, social media friend, or have benefited by way of our events, programs and resources, your ongoing commitment has impacted the lives of students and families in our community and beyond.
We have been in the classroom, the boardroom, and in the dirt; all in the name of health and wellbeing.
What could more inspiring then watching students befriend a praying mantis, planting, harvesting, and cooking with fresh herbs and vegetables that started out as a mere seed? Kids that once spent an hour a week outside, now run at the first chance, to be working side by side with their friends. These are no longer students that are the 1 in 5 school-aged children that are or will become obese, or subject to diseases that were once considered adult limited. These are future adults who can now better understand where food comes from, and how to make critical choices in nutrition, to affect the quality of their adult lives.
For as little as $6 a month, your membership takes gardens within our parks and recreation, school campuses, vacant properties that might lay dormant, and creates an exemplary learning environment for providing hands-on nutrition and health education, promoting positive time outdoors, physical activity and developing collaborative skills.
Help us plant healthy lives and seeds of knowledge and wonderment, by becoming a member today!

Feeling What You Hear - Some Sound Advice
Have you ever experienced the sound of someone moving a wooden mallet around the rim of “some strange metal bowl”? It is more than meditative, it is the powerful sound of a Tibetan singing bowl, used for centuries to produce low frequency sounds that calm the nervous system. These “instruments” are known for eliciting feelings of calm and relaxation.
The power of sound, not only improves mood, but also physical symptoms such as chronic pain.

Didgeridoo or Didgeradon't?
|
The didgeridoo, also spelt didjeridu, is a wind instrument, played with continuously vibrating lips to produce a continuous drone while using a special breathing technique called circular breathing. The didgeridoo was developed by Aboriginal peoples of northern Australia at least 1,500 years ago, and is now in use around the world, though still most strongly associated with Indigenous Australian music.
A didgeridoo is usually cylindrical or conical, and can measure anywhere from 1 to 3 m (3 to 10 ft) long. Generally, the longer the instrument, the lower its pitch or key.
There are no reliable sources of the exact age of the didgeridoo. Archaeological studies suggest that people of the Kakadu region in Northern Australia have been using the didgeridoo for less than 1,000 years, based on the dating of rock art paintings. A clear rock painting in Ginga Wardelirrhmeng, on the northern edge of the Arnhem Land plateau, from the freshwater period shows a didgeridoo player and two song men participating in an Ubarr ceremony.
