Dubuque Y Giving Tree
Around the holidays we have a giving tree in our lobby and invite the community to help us stuff the shelter and child care programs. Donations include essential basic needs for those who stay with us at the shelter and new program supplies for child care ensuring we are able to provide the best quality care.

We would like to extend a sincere THANK YOU to everyone who has participated in this year's giving tree. We are blessed to have your continued support. There are a few more ornaments left on the tree if you would like to participate - items can also be purchased on our Amazon Wish List (linked above).

Just a reminder to please bring all giving tree items back to the Y by January 1.
NEW PROGRAM ALERT
We are thrilled to now be offering FUTSAL! This new program will be taught by our Health and Wellness Director, Casey Curoe, who has over 10 years of soccer playing and coaching experience both at a high school and college level.

What is Futsal? Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced small sided soccer game. It is recognized as a scaled down version of outdoor soccer played indoors played 5 v 5, played on a hard surface, a basketball-sized court with a smaller, low bounce ball. Futsal is played with touchline boundaries and without walls.

What are some of the advantages of Futsal?
  • Allows players to frequently touch the ball.
  • Allows for more opportunities to score more goals and more often.
  • Allows for more participation.

We will be offering day clinics the week of December 28 and our 8 week program will begin on January 4. Both the clinic and program will be broken down into the following age brackets: 4 & 5 year olds, 6 & 7 year olds, and 8 & 9 year olds.

Always working to ensure the health and safety of our members.
With the facility getting busier and social distancing remaining a priority we have moved some of our wellness center equipment around in turn allowing more people to use the cardio equipment at one time. To allow for this change, the low impact (white) machines have been placed on the walking track and the cardio machines are now all 6 feet apart with the exception of our treadmills. Speaking of treadmills - we have also purchased clear pull-up banners that have been placed in between each treadmill allowing all of those to be in use at one time while creating a safe environment and separation between users. It is our mission to ensure we do our part to keep our members safe and while continuing to build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. We love seeing the smiling faces of our members and are excited to see more hustle and bustle around the facility.
