Letter from the CEO
Dear Friend,

When the calendar turned to a new year, we looked back with pride at the impact we made together and forward to all we will accomplish in 2019 with the help of our supporters.

Key areas of focus as we kicked off 2019 were our perennials: women’s empowerment, racial justice, and supporting survivors. Thanks to your support, these programs and services are blooming!

From our Women’s Leadership Conference to networking with non-profit leaders through the UN Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW63) to our WEN on the GO! workshop series, women's economic empowerment and leadership have been central themes.

In addition to the ongoing work of our Racial Justice Task Force, we celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with our community partners the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee of Ridgewood and Glen Rock and the MLK Birthday Committee of Bergen County, including a social justice forum on youth activism where I was honored to present alongside NJ Attorney General Grewal.

We shared our expertise in coalition-building at the Montclair State University 2019 Social Justice Conference, contributed to the discussion on effective partnerships at the Center on Violence Against Women and Children's NJ Conference on Campus Sexual Violence, and collaborated on sexual violence prevention through the SAFE (Sexual Assault Free Environment) Coalition.

We also supported families through our affordable, enriching school age child care and helped seniors stay happy and healthy with Fitness & Friendship Fridays.

We are so grateful to all of our partners and donors, with special thanks this quarter to our Opening Doors sponsor BD and donors Andy Stern and Jennifer Johnson.

We hope you enjoy looking back at our accomplishments together from January through March 2019 in this quarterly newsletter.
