IN THE TAR HEEL STATE
A representative from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), Steve Abbott, reports that the NCDOT has stopped issuing specialty license plates that feature the Confederate Flag at the beginning of the year.
Drivers who currently have the Confederate Flag plate won't be allowed to renew them, according to Abbott.
As of Feb. 2, there are about 2,500 cars with the Confederate plate.
North Carolina’s decision leaves eight states still issuing Sons of Confederate Veterans tags. They are Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
ALSO IN NORTH CAROLINA
Chairman Randy Isenhower of the Catawba County Board of Commissioners was confronted at this week's meeting by two groups of equal size. One wanting the monument removed and another advocating for it. The Chairman has said the Board has no intention of moving the statue.
But this is now an active monument and anyone in the Cawtaba area is encouraged to advocate for it regularly.
IN THE PALMETTO STATE
The letters “BLM” were spray painted Saturday night onto a Confederate statue in White Point Gardens, which is along the Charleston waterfront.
IN THE PEACH STATE
Democratic politicians are renewing efforts to remove Confederate imagery from state property, including the massive carving on the side of Stone Mountain.
Stone Mountain Democrat Billy Mitchell says legislation he’s introducing would remove that obstacle. “It’s not a matter of ‘if’ they will come down, it is a matter of ‘when,’” said Mitchell.
IN THE SUNSHINE STATE
The badge of the Pensacola Police Department may be redesigned to remove the First National Flag of the Confederacy.
A surprise vote came up Tuesday night after a member of the city’s Citizens Police Advisory Committee raised the issue.
ALSO IN FLORIDA
The city of Frostproof has officially declared the first week in February to be "Donald J. Trump Week," which is "dedicated to honoring the former president,"

NON-HERITAGE NEWS:
JIM STONE WRITES
Joe Biden is NOT the President. He is, instead, the leader of a coup. If you believe anyone can be elected via stealing, America is not your country, and Biden is not and cannot be president.
If a carjacker takes your car, does he own it, or do you still own it? If you think the carjacker owns the car after stealing it at gunpoint, go ahead and call Joe Biden "your" president.
NOT FIRED
All five of the impeachment lawyers who were expected to represent former President Donald Trump have called it quits.
The team, led by South Carolina lawyer Butch Bowers, resigned because President Trump wanted his team to argue there was election fraud, while the lawyers and some top advisers to the former president wanted the focus to remain on the constitutionality of a trial with the President no longer in office.
The Senate trial is scheduled to begin on the week of Feb. 8. Two-thirds of the Senate -- or 67 senators -- would need to vote to convict Trump to be successful. That means 17 GOP senators would need to come to the Democrats' side.
JAN 6 RALLY FACTS
The heiress to the Publix Super Market chain contributed the "lion's share" of money to fund the January 6 pro- Trump rally in Washington DC that preceded the storming of the US Capitol.
Radio host Alex Jones contributed about $50,000 for the January 6 rally.
At least 19 state and local elected officials attended the rally and entered the Capitol on Jan. 6.
REVOLT IN BURMA
Myanmar’s military has taken back control of the government in a coup, detaining elected officials, interrupting internet service and suspending flights. The country was under military rule from the 1960s until 2011.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the top civilian leader, had shared power with the military since taking office in 2015, but that agreement withered in recent years. It reached a breaking point after a landslide election victory for her party in November, which may have led military officials to worry they would be pushed further out of the government.
NEW YORK TIMES REPORTS
Twenty-one men accused a co-founder of the anti-Trump group the Lincoln Project, of sending them unsolicited and sexually provocative messages.
MORE POLICE ABUSE DOCUMENTED
The police in Rochester, N.Y., released body-camera footage that shows officers using handcuffs and pepper spray on a 9-year-old girl.
Firsthand accounts accuse Derek Chauvin, the Minneapolis police officer who knelt on George Floyd’s neck last year, of using similar tactics on other detainees.
THE BABYLON BEE REPORTS
Mike Lindell, more commonly known as the “MyPillow Guy,” is making headlines once again with his newest line of pillows. MyPillow is now targeting the socialist demographic with the release of OurPillow.
|
|
“MyPillow did really well in the Trump era, but now with a new administration, it’s time to try out OurPillow, my comrades!” said an exuberant Mike Lindell. “And we are proud to announce that we are transitioning to overseas factories so every OurPillow will be made 100% in the communist utopia of China!”
A recent "As Seen On TV" commercial revealed that OurPillow will no longer perfectly adjust to fit individuals, but instead it will conform to the masses. It also boasts a patented, quick-drying, liberal tear absorbing foam.
"It’s guaranteed the most comfortable pillow the State will ever own and let you use!" said Lindell.
“We love how inclusive OurPillow is, and now that the government is paying for it, everyone can enjoy!” said democratic socialist Millie Lenin. “Not to mention-- the built-in deodorizer is a nice touch.”
When asked how to order OurPillow, Mike Lindell replied: “Look for OurPillow today being distributed at a breadline near you!”
ON A SERIOUS NOTE - LINDELL KICKED OFF NEWSMAX
The MyPillow CEO appeared on Newsmax Tuesday afternoon for an interview about being kicked off Twitter.
When Lindell attempted to explain that he was kicked off Twitter for posting recently released proof about the Dominion Voting Machines he was interrupted by Newsmax host Bob Sellers, who appeared to be reading from a prepared statement disavowing Lindell’s claims.
“Mike? Mike? Mike, thank you very much. Mike, Mike...the election results in every state were certified, and Newsmax accepts the results as legal and final. The courts have also supported that view.”
Two minutes or so later Lindell again stated that the reason he and his company were deplatformed from social media was because he had published proof of election fraud, saying, “The agenda is because I am reviewing all the evidence of all the election fraud with these machines. So I’m sorry if you think it’s not—”
At that point Sellers interrupted again. “Can I ask our producers, can we get out of here please? I don’t want to have to keep going over this.”
A few seconds later, Sellers stood up and walked off the set.
Editor's note: In response I have deleted the Newmax app from my smart-TV.
THE WORLD'S NEXT SUPERMODEL?
The New York–based modeling agency that has some of the biggest names on its roster suddenly discovered a hidden Cinderella in our midst: Ella Emhoff, who is Kamala Harris's 22-year-old stepdaughter.
The problem with this amazing discovery is that Emhoff is entirely ordinary and even somewhat scary looking. It's patently clear that IMG is capitalizing on her stepmother's position, and that's just sleazy.

Here and there I get remarks directed at some of the historical articles I write concerning the War of Northern Aggression. Most of the comments seem to deal with the slavery issue. Some individuals with great imagination almost seem to think that the South fought that war so we could still keep slaves to this very day.
To these political worthies I have often directed this question–If the North was so gung ho as to fight against the South to free the slaves, then why did not the North first free all the slaves in states that, for one reason or another, remained part of the Union? This would included Kentucky, Maryland, Delaware, Missouri, and the newly created state of West Virginia. That’s right–West Virginia. The newly created state of West Virginia entered the Union as a slave state, not as a free state. The response I have gotten to this question has been one of ear-shattering silence! No one wants to touch this question and so they just pretend it doesn’t exist or that they didn’t hear anyone ask it. It’s probably the most ignored question of the past several decades.
To these harbingers of Yankee righteousness I would direct the book by Gene Kizer Jr. which I reviewed a few years back Slavery Was Not the Cause of the War Between the States published by Charleston Athenaeum Press
Check the internet and see if you can find it if you want the truth instead of Yankee fables. If you don’t really want the truth (and I suspect many don’t) then continue to ignore it, but if you do that, then please shut up about all this slavery foolishness!
Mr. Kizer noted on page xxiii of the introduction to his book that “Most people in the North (95-98% according to historians Lee Benson and Gavin Wright) were not abolitionists. They did not care about freeing the slaves who would then come North and be job competition. No Republican could be elected in the North on the platform of directly ending slavery but they could agitate on slavery in the West with good results. It was a hot political issue driven as much by rallying votes–vote Republican:…Lincoln himself stated in the Lincoln-Douglas Debates that the West was to be reserved for white people from all over the earth…Neither slaves nor free blacks were welcome in Lincoln’s West.”
Kizer observed a comment by Lincoln scholar Richard N. Current where Current stated: “Lincoln and his fellow Republicans, in insisting that Congress must prohibit slavery in the West, were dealing with political phantoms.” Kizer tells us that “In 1860, there were only two slaves in Kansas and 15 in Nebraska, and that was after being open to slavery for ten years. As stated above, Current did not believe slavery would have lasted another generation, even in the deep South.”
And Kizer reiterates “Slavery was not the cause of the War Between the States. Once you understand the true cause–the imminent economic annihilation of the North which was coming fast–all other actions taken by Lincoln and everybody else make infinitely more sense. Abraham Lincoln needed to start his was as quickly as he could. He needed his blockade of the South in place as fast as possible to keep Europeans and especially the English from forming trade and military alliances with the South…” Kizer also noted that: “Ramsdell states also that the North’s gaping self-inflicted wound, the Morrill Tariff, kicked in and greatly added to the panic and call for war in the North as the Northern shipping industry was largely rerouted, in one fell swoop, away from the high-tariff North and into the low-tariff South where protective tariffs were unconstitutional.”
Now I realize that Mr. Kizer’s research will never convince the professional South haters of their gross errors on the slavery issue, but at least they can never say no one told them.

Setting aside the extreme Left that wants to burn the country to the ground, the Left and its great mob of bleating sheep assume something about the Right and its great mob of fat but no-longer-so-happy-sheep that may or man not be true. Namely, that in spite of the greatest fraud in American history the Right in this country will continue to play by the rules.
Thanks to 2020, a great and unprecedented shift has occurred in the collective psyche of the Right. Until today, the Right has believed that our 200 hundred and something year old electoral system has by and large worked fairly well. Sure, there have been lots of hiccups and even dry heaves along the way and political historians could list them, but when, for example, Obama was elected twice, even though Conservatives hated it, we accepted it because we thought he had won fair and square.
Power brokers, strategists, pundits, and the studious on the Right may have seen November coming an age ago and even tried to warn us in 2020 of what was afoot, but We the Mob turned on Fox News that evening to watch the results come in, assuming that we could accept them, one way or the other, as we always have.
What has unfolded since then has profoundly shaken the confidence in our public institutions of the one half of the country that is most likely to carry its own weight, obey the law, and I’ll dare say that half that most loves the country and is most likely to sacrifice sons and treasure to defend it and its institutions.
The Left assumes that we Conservatives (whatever that means) will continue to play by the rules and they may be right. But if you derail a speeding locomotive and take it down a dirt road, don't be surprised if it doesn’t hold together.

ENGLISH IS A GERMANIC LANGUAGE
|
|
|
Ian James Parsley is a businessman and former politician from Northern Ireland.
He was the Alliance Party candidate at the 2009 European elections, and served as Deputy Mayor of North Down.
|
|
English is a profoundly Germanic language – and it is in fact harmful to enhancing our linguistic competence to pretend otherwise.
We have all heard the story. After the Norman invasion, Norman French and Latin were the “high languages” of England and thus redefined English as somewhere between Germanic (derived from Proto-Germanic, like German, Dutch and Scandinavian languages) and Romance (derived from Latin) – a hybrid language. It is not a hybrid, however. It is fundamentally Germanic (albeit one whose vocabulary is markedly influence by Romance in some contexts), and this is important.
Vocabulary
We often hear figures as high as 63% for English vocabulary derived from Romance languages. This is an irrelevant figure. It may be true that if you search a dictionary more than half the headwords will be of Romance origin, but these include rare scientific terms or other words which only appear at certain levels of formality. When you look at the words in use, however, Germanic dominates. For example, more than two thirds of the words in this paragraph are of Germanic origin, not Romance.
This is largely because all the core vocabulary of English is of Germanic origin – all the pronouns, all the basic conjunctions, all the determiners, all the grammatical and basic verbs, all the numbers and other common adjectives (as well as almost all basic farming and forestry terms). They are not all of specifically West Germanic (essentially Dutch/German) origin; some are North Germanic (Scandinavian) – but they are Germanic.
Grammar
English is also grammatically entirely Germanic. Its verbal system, with strong and weak verbs and modals [see also two paragraphs below], is Germanic; its pronoun system is entirely Germanic in structure as well as vocabulary; its adjectival system is heavily regularised but Germanic. Even regular noun plural formation in -s is in fact Germanic in origin (derived from Old English masculines, which had -as; vestiges of other forms also exist in irregular plurals such as men), despite the apparent similarity with French and Spanish.
Word order, although now heavily regularised compared to German or Dutch, is also fundamentally Germanic in origin.
Most importantly of all, perhaps, is that English has no future tense. This is a grammatical point – English can of course use modals (such as will, which originally meant volition as with the noun ‘will’) or adaptations (such as going to, again an independent development from French or Spanish and originally a literal meaning) to indicate the future, but there is no grammatical future form. This is the same for all Germanic languages. Conversely, all Romance languages have a synthetic future tense (i.e. they mark future grammatically with an ending).
Stress
Perhaps the most obvious marker that English is a Germanic language is how it is pronounced. English is articulated further back in the mouth than Romance languages (as is Dutch and as is German, at least in the north) and is in most dialects a “stress-timed” language like all West Germanic languages, meaning rhythm is designed to give equal length between stressed syllables (cf. ‘delicious tea’ versus ‘tolerable tea’) rather than equal length to each syllable (as is the case in Romance languages). This is easy to hear even when simply comparing German or Dutch speakers of English versus French, Italian or Spanish – the latter struggle much more with the location of articulation and the stress timing (and of course vice-versa!)
Why this matters?
This matters because for centuries the powers that be have effectively willed English to be a Romance language, for reasons predominantly of prestige. Grammatical assessments, for example, almost always included reference to the “future” (and often also to concepts such as the “subjunctive”), which are useful for describing Latin but misleading when used for Germanic languages.
It also matters because, even to use our own language (never mind speak others), it is important to understand at least its fundamental structure and origin. Trying to deny this, and pretend it is really something it is not, is unhelpful.
We need to get over the idea that English is anything other than a Germanic language, and also that English being a Germanic language is a problem. It is the way it is!

When Fascism Comes, It Will Be Wearing a Mask
And Carrying an amerikan Flag

Ron Paul is an American physician, author, and former 10-term Republican congressman.

Almost immediately after his inauguration, President Joe Biden began creating new government dictates via executive orders. Many of these executive orders concern coronavirus, fulfilling Biden’s promise to make ramping up a coronavirus-inspired attack on liberty a focus of his first 100 days.
One of Biden’s executive orders imposes mask and social distancing mandates on anyone in a federal building or on federal land. The mandates also apply to federal employees when they are “on-duty” anywhere. Members of the military are included in the definition of federal employees. Will citizens of Afghanistan, Iraq, and other countries where US troops are or will be “spreading democracy” be happy to learn the troops shooting up their towns are wearing masks and practicing social distancing?
Another one of Biden’s executive orders forces passengers on airplanes, trains, and other public transportation to wear masks.
Biden’s mask mandates contradict his pledge to follow the science. Studies have not established that masks are effective at preventing the spread of coronavirus. Regularly wearing a mask, though, can cause health problems.
Biden’s mask mandates are also an unconstitutional power grab. Some say these mandates are an exercise of the federal government’s constitutional authority to regulate interstate commerce. However, the Constitution gives Congress, not the president, the power to regulate interstate commerce. The president does not have the authority to issue executive orders regulating interstate commerce absent authorization by a valid law passed by Congress. The Founders gave Congress sole law-making authority, and they would be horrified by the modern practice of presidents creating law with a “stroke of a pen.”
Just as important, the Commerce Clause was not intended to give the federal government vast regulatory power. Far from giving the US government powers such as the power to require people to wear masks, the Commerce Clause was simply intended to ensure Congress could protect free trade among the states.
Biden also signed an executive order supporting using the Defense Production Act to increase the supply of vaccines, testing supplies, and other items deemed essential to respond to coronavirus. The Defense Production Act is a Cold War relic that gives the president what can fairly be called dictatorial authority to order private businesses to alter their production plans, and violate existing contracts with private customers, in order to produce goods for the government.
Mask and social distancing mandates, government control of private industry, and some of Biden’s other executive actions, such as one creating a new “Public Health Jobs Corps” with responsibilities including performing “contact tracing” on American citizens, are the type of actions one would expect from a fascist government, not a constitutional republic.
Joe Biden, who is heralded by many of his supporters as saving democracy from fascist Trump, could not even wait one day before beginning to implement fascistic measures that are completely unnecessary to protect public health. Biden will no doubt use other manufactured crises, including “climate change” and “domestic terrorism,” to expand government power and further restrict our liberty. Under Biden, fascism will not just carry an American flag. It will also wear a mask.

Admit it – you hate Facebook. We all hate Facebook, even if we love/hate it. Even if we use it daily, even if we think we need it to stay in touch with friends, family, important community groups, whatever. We complain about how their sociopathic owner lies and cheats and sells our private data against our wishes. We complain about the advertising. We complain about the manipulation. We complain about how how they keep screwing with the interface with each new “enhancement.”
We wish there were an alternative. We swear that we would dump Facebook in a heartbeat if there were something to replace it.
There is such a replacement! Dixie Heritage has switched to MeWe and it is very much like your Facebook experience. Only better in every way.
It’s easy to set up, easy to invite people, easy to post, and there are zillions of interesting groups already. You can create your own group and managing it is a piece of cake. MeWe also has a couple nifty features Facebook doesn’t.
And they don’t collect and sell your data. In fact, being the network that protects your privacy is the point. They make money by selling stuff, and you control that. You never have to spend a penny.
MeWe adoption is rising, but it needs to rise faster. A lot of folks seem to sign up, look around, then … not do anything.
So I’m here with some tried and true tips to make MeWe (or any other social network, for that matter) work for you. Do these things today.
1: Take the time to actually set up your account.
Fill out your profile and tell people about you. You don’t have to write a dissertation (and in fact MeWe’s profile options are a lot more streamlined than FB’s anyway), but include your interests, where you live, something. Just let others know you’re a person.
2: Add pictures.
That user icon and the background photo are stock. Nothing says take me seriously like a picture of Smiley McToastface and a generic landscape, huh? Is that what you have on your Facebook page?
Upload a user pic, just like you did with FB, Twitter, Instagram, and whatever other sites you use. Then use that background image space to project a bit of your personality.
3. Invite your Facebook friends.
And share this with them when you do, because a lot of folks are hesitant. They’ll be more likely to migrate over if they know you’re there and using it.
4. Use MeWe!
Look around and join some interesting groups.
Specifically, use MeWe like you do Facebook. That funny photo you shared on FB? Share it on MeWe. You post an article on something political that ticks you off? Post it on MeWe.
In other words, everything you do on Facebook, do it on MeWe, too.
5. Make new friends.
Yeah, we want to port our Facebook world over, but part of what’s cool about social networks is that you can meet new people.
6. MeWe first.
This is a big one. Don’t treat MeWe as an afterthought. In the morning, if that’s when you log into your social nets, visit MeWe before Facebook. Engage with friends, new and old. Share a story or a video or a stupid meme. Then head over to Facebook if you want. If there’s something cool there, copy the link and bring it back to MeWe.
Because a social network becomes important only when we treat it as important.
7. Tell your friends.
This article is a good starter, but whatever. Just tell folks on FB and your other hangouts that you’ve started up with this new place called MeWe and they should check it out. Give them your page URL so they can find and friend you. Then carp at them to do their profile and add pics and, you know, all the stuff I talk about here.
8. Be patient.
Rome wasn’t built in a day. Neither was Facebook. MeWe won’t be, either.
Once upon a time you’d never heard of Facebook. And it took a while for you to get from sign-up to the fully borged place you are with them now.
So don’t expect everything at once. Don’t walk in, get frustrated because they don’t throw you a party on day 1 and give up. Social networks succeed because we invest. We are the content and we’re the crucial marketing piece.
Follow the steps above, be consistent, and over time MeWe will begin taking over the place Facebook currently occupies.
And it won’t eat your soul when it does.
Deo Vindice!
Dr. Ed
