Wednesday After School Academic Hub 

Last week SMC officials announced that while vaccination sites are ready, there is a shortage of vaccine supply not only in SMC, but across the state and the country. Educators are in Phase 1B of Tier 1 of its rollout plan. The San Mateo County Office of Education is working with SMC Health, key healthcare providers and SMC district Superintendents to develop a plan for SMC schools.

Each year at Borel we select a theme to help guide us in our journey to building the most “positive and safe community where students are motivated to collaborate, lead, reflect and learn in a rigorous and engaging environment.” Our theme this year is “What is your greatest dream in life?” We recognize that this unprecedented year is very different and we feel it’s more important than ever to dream big, set goals, and work together to achieve our dreams. During the last week of January, students in their Tuesday and Friday morning homerooms created collaborative Vision Boards using Google. You might even be motivated to create a vision board yourself!

Congratulations to three Borel Musicians selected this year to represent Borel in the 2021 California All State Honor Ensembles. These 3 students prepared digital auditions and were selected as some of the top musicians on their instruments out of over 1,500 applicants from throughout our state. They will be a part of this year's virtual All State Honor Ensembles performances later this Spring.

All four middle schools will have additional minimum days on Friday, February 19, and June 4. The additional minimum days on Friday (2/19, 6/4) help to balance the week since the Mondays are holidays. Please plan accordingly for these additional minimum days. Here is the Wednesday minimum day schedule for your reference.

It is important to note that high school enrollment will be done online starting November 9^th. A  link  on the SMUHSD Website will be available to complete the process.  The priority window is from December 1, 2020 to February 12, 2021. If families need help navigating the online system by computer, they can contact the SMUHS district office beginning on November 9^th for assistance either by phone or in person.

Food: Meal service at five of our elementary school sites (College Park and Sunnybrae). If needed, make sure your family applies for free and reduced-price meals if needed. The application is on our website and the school district website. If you need more help with food, let your counselor know.
