Updates on NYS Travel Advisory
|
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont announced an incoming travel advisory requiring that all individuals traveling from states with significant community spread of COVID-19 must quarantine for a 14-day period from the time of last contact within the identified state.
This quarantine - which went into effect last night - applies to any person arriving from a state with a positive test rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents over a 7-day rolling average or a state with a 10% or higher positivity rate over a 7-day rolling average.
This initially includes visitors from a number of states including:
- Florida
- South Carolina
- North Carolina
- Texas
- Alabama
- Arizona
- Arkansas
- Washington
- Utah
New York will continually update and publish on their
website
a list of states to which the new advisory applies. This information will be updated regularly.
The three states will also ask hotels to communicate the 14-day quarantine to guests who have traveled from one of the impacted states.
Exemptions for Essential Travelers
Exceptions to the travel advisory are permitted for essential workers and are limited based on the duration of time in designated states, as well as the intended duration of time in New York.
