May is National Elder Law Month

The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) established May as National Elder Law Month as a way to educate older Americans and their families on living trusts, powers of attorney, physical and financial elder abuse, Medicare, Medicaid, long-term care insurance, and other important issues.

Did you know? Janna Dutton, who founded our firm in 1989, was the first elder law attorney in Illinois? Kathryn Casey is one of only a few Certified Elder Law Attorneys in Illinois and Helen Mesoloras is an active member of the Illinois Chapter NAELA.

All of  our attorneys  serve clients, advocate for vulnerable adults, and educate others, including attorneys, community members, and health care professionals.

Family Caregiver Contract

Many people are willing to voluntarily care for a loved one without any promise of compensation. Even so, a growing number of people are entering into caregiver contracts with their family members. Having such a contract may help reduce tension between family members, documenting duties, payments, and much more.

Our attorneys are here to assist you, or someone you care about, plan for today...and tomorrow.  Learn more.
Upcoming Webinar

"Long-Term Care: Medicare DOES NOT Pay For It All" on May 12 and May 14, 2020.

May is National Aging Life Care Month
Aging Life Care (ALCA) / care management is a holistic, client-centered approach to caring for others. ALCA members differ from Patient Advocates, Senior Advisors, Senior Navigators, and Elder Advocates and must meet stringent education, experience, and certification requirements and are required to adhere to a strict code of ethics.

Our Client Coordinator   Erin Vogt , is a licensed clinical social worker, certified care manager, and member of the ACLA. She supports both our clients and attorneys by providing comprehensive assessments, family caregiver advocacy and education, and the resource information needed for the client and family to understand and make decisions.
Have A Say In Your Future

Instead of giving your parent(s) "traditional" gift for Mother's Day or Father's Day, give the gift of helping them have a say in their future. And, give yourself this gift.

No one likes to think about not having the ability to make healthcare or financial decisions but it happens. The current COVID-19 Crisis has made many people much more aware of this.

Estate planning is not 'only' for the wealthy. It is for anyone over age 18.

Our attorneys work closely with our clients to develop a plan that addresses all planning issues, from the financial to the personal; a plan that is custom, yet flexible, and a plan that is both easy for our clients to understand and for their loved ones to administer. Learn more.
