38 years strong: Ben Scott Sports Auction delivers again

A surge of community support powered the 38th annual Ben Scott Sports Auction at the University of West Georgia Coliseum on March 21, resulting in a successful night for Carrollton High School athletics. The Carrollton High School Athletic Booster Club sold more than 830 tickets for the event, raising nearly $175,000 in support of student-athletes.

Senior standout New is heading to Nationals

Carrollton High School senior gymnast Kendall New has earned a spot at the USA Gymnastics Level 9 Eastern National Championships, to be held May 4 in Battle Creek, Michigan. Kendall medaled in each event at the qualifying competition in Bradenton, Florida. This achievement marks a significant milestone for New and the Carrollton gymnastics program.

Former Trojan named NJCAA Player of the Year

Kanija Daniel, a Class of 2023 Carrollton High School basketball standout, was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Player of the Year last week. Daniel ranked 11th nationally, averaging 19.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. She shot 34.2% from 3-point range and 40.4% from the field. After transferring to Chipola from Georgia Southern University, she became a key player for the top-ranked Indians. Daniel scored 20-plus points 16 times and 30-plus points three times, including a season-high 36 points Jan. 6.

Varsity baseball defeats Marietta over spring break

Trojan baseball defeated Marietta 7-2 at home Friday, April 11. Senior John Cobb earned his 19th career win with a complete game on the mound. Junior Kaleb Binion hit a two-run homer to lead the team offensively. The Trojans host Chapel Hill at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, in the first game of their final region series. The program will host its annual Special Olympics night before the game.

Carrollton High School wrestler Madison Cooley finished as a national runner-up at the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) National Championships - also known as High School Nationals - marking a huge milestone for the girls wrestling program.
