CHS Athlete of the Week: Senior Jayla Gilbert

Each week, on the Trojan Ticker, we will honor a CHS athlete of the week. This athlete will demonstrate what it means to be a Trojan on and off the field. Our first athlete of the week is senior Jayla Gilbert.

Jayla's high school career demonstrates her versatility as an academic, athlete, and performer. She holds membership in honor societies, has completed numerous AP classes and served in school club leadership in addition to her honor roll status. Active in the Trojan Band for three years, she was a member of the color guard.

Jayla thrives in track and field and has been a member of the varsity girls track team since she was a freshman and is the current record-holder in the shot put. Jayla also ranks 6th nationally in the shotput. She is the daughter of Sparkle King and Demarcus Gilbert Sr. and has five siblings. Congratulations to Jayla Gilbert, and go Trojans!
