Yes, even our youngest and littlest human beings new to our planet can benefit from CranioSacral Therapy (CST). CST is indicated for newborns and infants to support their health and well-being and to encourage balanced development as they grow.
The goal of CST is to gently facilitate optimal central nervous system function. CST early in life may help, for instance,
to encourage a strong immune system; reduce tension and strain patterns that at times are generated by a vaginal or cesarean birth; naturally address head shape and skull-bone override; support nursing; and potentially reduce a variety of health issues, some of which may not become apparent until the child is in school.
In CranioSacral Therapy, the evaluation and treatment techniques applied to adults are modified to address the different stages of human development, especially to protect the more vulnerable infant cranium.
Because CST is so delicately gentle, soothing and non-invasive, it is particularly useful for infants who may be too uncomfortable or sensitive to tolerate receiving other forms of treatment. CST also partners well with other therapies delivered by early-intervention teams.
