Creative Capital is seeking applicants for their Creative Capital Award. They are looking for projects that reimagine what art is and what it can do. Artists who receive the Creative Capital Award have access to up to $50,000 in funding for bold new projects, as well as a wide range of counsel, career development and networking opportunities to make their work come to life.

Becky Beauchine Kulka Diamonds and Fine Jewelry is accepting applications for a fulltime jewelry goldsmith to join their Okemos team. The goldsmith will perform all requested and necessary work on jewelry to include setting, sizing, retipping, welding, soldering, polishing, engraving, cleaning, estimates and other work consistent with Becky Beauchine Kulka Diamonds and Fine Jewelry standards of quality, service and timeliness. Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center and the City of Lansing announce a call for entries for the fourth annual ArtPath Public Art on the Lansing River Trail program. New this year, ArtPath 2021 artists will have the opportunity to participate in education programming and exhibit and sell their work in the retail gallery. LAFCU announces a call to Michigan artists for the "Act with Love & Equality" art initiative. Their mission is to showcase daily reminders of important words (as they relate to love & equality) through the use of art pieces that will be showcased on billboards and digital channels. Artists are asked to create their piece using their medium of choice based on one of 10 words (Love, Humanity, Change, Peace, Kind, Empathy, Unity, Equal or One, Hope, Heal) that represent love and equality. Lakeshore Art Festival invites artists to submit applications for their annual art fair. Held June 26 & 27 in Downtown Muskegon, The Lakeshore Art Festival features a unique blend of fine art, handcrafted goods, music, food and fun, including over 350 juried fine art and specialty craft exhibitors, a Children’s Lane, artisan food market, street performers, multiple interactive art stations, Chalk The Walk and so much more! Art Rapids! is seeking artist applications for original sculptures of a size, weight and material suited to an outdoor park setting. The sculptures will be exhibited at the Elk Rapids Day Park, located in Elk Rapids, Michigan. Selected works will demonstrate the intimate connections between art, place and the natural environment. Artists can submit 3-6 representative digital images, sketches or a scale maquette of their proposed sculpture. Digital images must be in jpeg format and submitted on a CD or by email. Kalamazoo Institute of Arts announces a call to artists for the West Michigan Area Show 2021. This annual juried exhibition showcases work in all media by artists in a 14-county region surrounding Kalamazoo. Each year, a renowned artist, educator or museum specialist selects the works to be exhibited and over a dozen works to be awarded more than $5,000 in prizes, including a $1,000 grand prize. NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL CALL
The Duluth Art Institute, Duluth, Minnesota, announces an open call for submissions for the "63rd Arrowhead Regional Biennial." As one of the longest running biennials in the country, this exhibition features a wide range of artwork produced within the last five years from artists residing in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Michigan and Ontario, Canada. The exhibit is open to all 2D and 3D work. Selected work will be published in an exhibition catalog. Awards include – 1st place: $1,000; 2nd place: $500; 3rd place: $250. Edward A. Dixon Gallery, Dayton, Ohio announces a call to artists for an upcoming art exhibition, May-July 2021. Awards will be given for Best In Show / First Place (Theme) / Signature Piece - $500/$250/$250. The exhibit seeks to create dialogue and spark ideas related to the many ways humanity continually fails itself. Eligible media includes 2D art, 3D art/sculpture (non-wall art), audio and video. Yeiser Art Center, Paducah, Kentucky, is accepting entries for the "Fantastic Fibers" 2021 international juried exhibition held on April 1-May 29, 2021. The exhibit seeks to showcase a wide range of outstanding contemporary works related to the fiber medium. Contemporary and innovative works created with fiber as the primary medium or concept are welcome. This exhibition is open to all artists, 18 years and over, working in the field of fiber art. Black Box Gallery, Portland, Oregon, announces it's open-themed juried group photo show. This exhibition is open to all themes and ideas, all styles and genres, all perspectives on craftsmanship and photographic creativity. Great opportunity for landscape, architecture, portraiture, documentary, fashion, still life, conceptual projects, street, color and black and white, nature and night photography. Rochester Contemporary Art Center is seeking entries for its "6x6x2021 International Small Art Phenomonon." This annual exhibition brings together thousands of original artworks, made and donated by celebrities, international and local artists, designers, youth and you. Each artist may enter up to three artworks of any medium (2D or 3D). Artworks must be six inches square and signed only on the back, to be exhibited anonymously. Participation is free. All artworks will be exhibited and for sale to the public for $20 each to benefit RoCo. Artists’ names will be revealed to the buyer upon purchase and all artworks remain on display through the end of the exhibition. Application deadline is April 10, 2021. Learn more.

Break It Down, Make it Better announces its sixth annual conference. This year’s event will be reinterpreted as four weekly online talks and is being offered for free for the first time. Sessions will begin at 7 p.m. every Thursday in March and include, "Intersection of Art and Racial Justice;" "Surviving and Thriving During COVID-19;" "Reinvigorating Local Arts Journalism;" and "State of the Art, Grand Rapids." Grantmakers in the Arts in partnership with Race Forward and True North EDI present their Racial Equity in Arts Funding Workshop. This online workshop serves as a way to support funders with nuts-and-bolts guidance on how to better serve African, Latinx, Asian, Arab and Native American (ALAANA) communities through their grantmaking. Program includes information on the history of racialization in the United States, the history of cultural funding and real-world examples of racial equity funding, strategies and resources. The workshop will be 9 hours and divided into three 3-hour modules on March 9, 16 and 23, 2021, from 12-3 p.m. EST. Learn more.

Tofte Lake Center, a retreat center for artists in Ely, Minnesota, is seeking artists for their one-week residency as part of their National Emerging Artists Program. Available dates are July 12-18, 2021 or Sept. 13-19, 2021. Awardees receive $700 stipend plus up to $350 for travel. Eligibility for this residency is guided by the following definition: "emerging artists" are those who have not attained name recognition in their profession/field by having a body of critically recognized work (i.e. at least three major productions, showings, exhibits, books) through leading institutions/publishers. Emerging artists from all artistic disciplines who live in the United States are welcome to apply. No fee. Application deadline is March 1, 2021. Learn more.

Between 2018 and 2019, participants in Creative Placemaking Leadership Summits were asked three key questions: What should creative placemakers believe? What should creative placemakers know? and What should people involved in creative placemaking do? From the hundreds of responses, we identified a shared sense of ethics and desired competencies for creative placemaking. This webinar is designed for anyone who teaches creative placemaking or leads organizations that work in this area. This webinar takes place on March 9, 2021, 2-3 p.m. EST.

The Arts Council wants to help connect area youth to your creative opportunities and invites its members to participate in the 2021 Young Creatives Guide--a directory of arts and cultural youth programing in Greater Lansing.
This year, to allow for flexibility and easy updates, the Young Creatives Guide will be completely virtual and available on the Arts Council website. After the initial launch, new programming and updates will be routinely added. To participate, please provide your arts and cultural youth programing details by 5 p.m. Feb. 28, 2021, here.
