Recruiting Youth Board Members! |
Did you know YPI's board of directors has multiple positions for youth? We're currently looking to fill two youth board member seats starting this month! The ideal youth board member is someone who cares for, and benefits from, our organization and wants to help guide the direction YPI takes in the future. This is perfect to list on your resume, or to gain leadership experience.
This position requires attendance at our monthly board meetings (typically Thursday evenings) and attendance at our annual board retreat every January. This is a paid opportunity; youth board members are paid ~$42 for each monthly board meeting they attend; this comes out to ~$500 a year. Extra is paid for the board retreat.
If this opportunity interests you, please submit our application linked below!

| Spirit of Giving Essay Dedicated to YPI |
The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) is an international women’s civic organization that seeks to bring together women of all backgrounds for philanthropic activities and community service. The Rhode Island GFWC of South County hosted their annual "Spirit of Giving" essay contest. The contest has youth write about organizations that are important to them and how charitable giving can benefit their impact in the community. The top three essays are read aloud by the youth authors at the Spirit of Giving Luncheon held at the Mettatuxet Yacht Club. The organizations the youth wrote about are then gifted a monetary donation.
One of the three winning essay was written about YPI. We were honored to attend the luncheon, meet the youth who submit the essay, and receive the donation. We hope to continue positively influencing the lives and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ youth in the state. The other two winning essays were written about The American Cancer Society and the World Wildlife Federation.
