Lipsky/Whittaker Scholarship | Applications for the 2024 Lipsky/Whittaker Scholarship are now open! This year YPI has $5k to grant to RI high school graduates that have a history of supporting and advocating for the LGBTQ+ community. More information about the scholarship and how to apply can be found at the link below and on our website. | Healthy Relationships Fair | |
A Healthy Relationships Fair is coming to a drop-in center near you! YPI's upcoming fair will include workshops on topics such as: Boundaries & Consent; Aromantic & Asexual Relationships; Safer Sex for Gender Diverse Young Adults; Healthy Communication & Conflict Resolution; and Internet Dating Safety. Space will also be made for parents and guardians, featuring workshops such as: “The Talk” for Parents of Gender Diverse Youth; HIV Screening & STI Q&A; Speak Up: How to Support Your LGBTQ+ Youth at School and in Public Spaces.
The fair will take place at YPI's drop-in center. Exact dates and times will be announced soon on our social media pages and website.

New Urban Arts and RISCA are hosting their annual Not College Fair this month. The Not College Fair is an opportunity for high school students to learn about opportunities other than traditional college/university. Businesses and organizations will be in attendance to talk with students about apprenticeships, certifications, internships and licensing. Recruitment for summer jobs and paid programs will be ongoing throughout the afternoon.
YPI will be attending to talk about OUTspoken, our paid youth leadership program. OUTspoken runs in 9 week sessions and participants learn about advocacy, community involvement, and cultural awareness while discussing topics such as identity, community, capitalism, intersectionality, systems of oppression, and youth activism.
The fair is on Friday, March 22 from 2:30pm - 4:30pm at Central High School (Gymnasium) located at 70 Fricker St, Providence, RI 02903.

Prom season is almost among us! Born This Way Prom, an annual event hosted by Interweave, Channing Memorial Church's LGBTQ+ group, is scheduled for Friday, April 26th from 6-10am at the Florence Gray Center in Newport! LGBTQ+ high schoolers and allies are invited to an evening of dancing, food, and crownings!
YPI will be providing transportation to and from the prom. There will be limited seating; the bus will pick youth up at YPI, drive them to the prom, then drive them back to YPI after the event. Youth will need transportation to and from YPI.
Several prom dresses and tuxedos are being donated to YPI's pantry this month. Youth are welcome to browse the garments during any of our drop-in hours.

The Future Perfect Project is a nonprofit working towards amplifying the voices of queer youth through workshops, media, podcasts, and more! Last month they launched their first original podcast, I'm Feeling Queer Today (IFQT). The podcast is produced and hosted by a team of 11 young adults across North America and explores current themes and issues of the 21st century experience through a queer youth lens.
IFQT currently has four episodes, and they can all be accessed through their website linked below.

We Are ALL Readers Festival | |

The 3rd annual We Are ALL Readers festival is happening on Saturday, April 6th at North Kingstown High School. Doors open at 9:30am and the event runs from 10am-2pm. The purpose of the event is to celebrate and highlight diversity in children's literature.
The event will include hands-on activities, book signings, picture book storytimes, a Make Your Own Comics Workshop, a Graphic Novel Author Talk, and a Teen Art Show!

Your tax-deductible donation helps YPI continue to do the important work we do in accordance to our mission. Your gift will be directly invested in our state's LGBTQ+ youth so that they may have a chance to share their gifts and light with the world.

Our Programs and Services | |
Youth Pride, Inc. serves over 700 Rhode Island LGBTQ+ youth and their straight allies a year through a variety of programs and services. All YPI Center services and activities are free to youth and include a leadership development program, several support groups, and various social groups such as virtual Dungeons & Dragons and a weekly cooking class!
Our center is home to a Basic Needs Pantry, open to youth in need of food, clothing, toiletries, and school supplies.
In addition to free one on one counseling with licensed clinicians, we provide case management and housing assistance services for youth facing challenging times. For more information on either of these services, email Andy@youthprideri.org
