Halloween Party

YPI's annual Halloween party is being held this year at our drop-in center on Tuesday, October 31st from 3-6pm! Youth 24 and younger can join us for an evening of dancing, music, costumes and treats! A costume contest will decide best, funniest, and coolest costume. Youth 13 and younger need a parent or guardian present. Keep an eye on our social media pages for more information and a registration link!

Art-Making Night!

The Songs From the Wild Rainbow concert benefiting YPI is happening November 4th. Gravity Gives will be performing original new songs and reimagined music of the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Gravity Gives and YPI want to decorate the venue with art pieces created by YPI youth that represent What YPI Means to Them. Tamara Diaz, a Cuban-American painter working with Gravity Gives, will be hosting an art night at YPI on Thursday, October 19th from 3-6pm. The event is free and open to youth ages 14-24. All materials will be provided. If you're interested in joining us for an evening of art making, email programs@youthprideri.org

BCBS Day of Joy

We want to extend a huge thank you to our friends at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island for volunteering time, talent, and resources during their Day of Joy service day! The team of 15 BCBSRI staff members did a thorough kitchen clean out, painted bookshelves, signed cards, and organized the library. They also did an amazing job restocking our Food Oasis pantry! Thank you, BCBS RI, for your hard work and everything you do for the community.

Expanding Drop-In to Mondays

Starting October 9th, YPI will be open on Mondays to offer drop-in and programing for our 9-13 year old youth. Drop-in will be from 3-6pm with structured and unstructured activities throughout. No need to sign up ahead of time, youth can just drop-in and we'll complete an intake from there.

Volunteers Needed

Youth Pride is looking for volunteers to assist with several upcoming events! We're looking for volunteers to assist with our Soiree, work information tables at upcoming marketplaces and fairs, and more. A detailed list of events we need volunteers for is linked below.

PBS Special on Mental Health Challenges Faced by Trans Individuals Recives Award

In February of this year, Rhode Island PBS aired Our Best Lives: A Conversation on Issues Affecting the Transgender Community. The segment examined the mental health challenges faced by many transgender people as well as highlighting the disparities in mental health care. A panel discussion moderated by YPI's Director of Youth Services and LCSW, Andy Taubman, followed the showing.

On September 10th, the project won a national Public Media Award in the category of Community Engagement at the 55th Annual Public Media Awards Gala! You can read the press release at the link below.

Speak Up for Trans Youth, A Community Meeting

Trans, non-binary, and gender diverse youth deserve safe, supportive schools for the same educational opportunities as their peers. Their rights in schools are under attack as national campaigns filter into Rhode Island to try and eliminate our long-standing protections for trans youth.

Learn about current advocacy efforts and ways that you can support, while we also mark the 1-year anniversary of a rally at the same location that successfully rebuffed hate-base attacks on trans youth in 2022.

This event is sponsored in collaboration by TGI Network of Rhode Island, Youth Pride Inc, The Womxn Project, and Thundermist Health Center. RSVP to become a co-sponsoring organization or individual joining the event.
