Within you will read about YPI's upcoming Summer Soirée and Family Day, our kayaking trip with Movement Education Outdoors, our Pride recap, and more!
YPI Family Day!
YPI youth and their families are invited to our second annual Family Day! This year the event is planned for Saturday, August 6th from 1-5pm in the field behind Classical High School; 770 Westminster St. Providence, RI 02903. The afternoon will be filled with music, games, arts & crafts, and food! Lunch will be provided and will include fresh fruits and veggies; a variety of wraps and sandwiches; and cupcakes! We are conscientious of allergies and dietary restrictions so gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options will be available.

The event is free to attend. YPI youth and their families can register at the Eventbrite linked below. Please submit a registration form for EACH person coming to the event. Youth do not need to be a YPI participant to attend; siblings and friends of attending YPI youth are always welcome!
The Great Outdoors
Movement Education Outdoors (MEO) is a southern RI nonprofit organization that provides safe, accessible, and meaningful outdoor experiences to urban BIPOC and low-income youth and empowers students to build their own relationships to the land they are on and the communities they live in. YPI is proud to partner with MEO on an upcoming outdoor excursion.

In late August, YPI and MEO staff will be taking several youth to Narrow River Kayaks to experience the river and wildlife in the surrounding salt marshes and ecosystems. Participants will maneuver tandem (two-seater) kayaks along the Pettaquamscutt Watershed (a.k.a Narrow River) that eventually opens up to Narragansett Beach and the Atlantic Ocean.

Pride Recap
Pride month was both exhilarating and exhausting, but overall we loved every moment of it. Thank you to all the YPI supporters who have donated their time and/or money to our organization. We could not have had such a successful RI Pride without the assistance of our amazing volunteers. We also could not continue to provide the critical programs and services we offer without the donations of individuals and businesses alike. Through corporate fundraisers, personal donations, and Pride festivals, YPI was able to raise over $13,000 during Pride Month!

An extra special thank you for the following businesses that held fundraiser for us in June.

In no particular order: Flatbread Pizza, Rock Spot Lincoln, Jordan's Jungle, Michael Kors, Wicked Sick, Pure Barre, Pink/Joe Bernardo, Huck's Filling Station, Synergy Power Yoga, Toni&Guy, The Gay Beer Club, Wildflour Bakery, Nitro Bar, Tricycle Ice-cream, Proclamation Beer Company, Escape RI, (add)ventures, RI Spirits, Like No Udder, Keane's Wood Fired Catering, and Allie's Donuts.

Haus of Codec is Hiring!
YPI works very closely with Haus of Codec (HoC) so we wanted to spread the word to our community that they are looking to hiring a Case Manager.

HoC is a nonprofit organization in Providence that is dedicated to ending transition age (18-24) youth homelessness in Rhode Island; serving homeless, runaway, and system-involved youth. HoC is also Providence's first emergency shelter for LGBTQ+ youth.

Haus of Codec is currently hiring a full time Case Manager. Based out of Providence, this position would involve the case management of their youth, supporting them, and providing them with the necessary resources to help them get on track for a more permanent means of housing. You can learn more in the job posting linked below.
Our Mission
Mission:
Youth Pride, Inc. is dedicated to meeting the unique needs of youth and young adults impacted by sexual orientation and gender identity/expression while working to end the homophobic and transphobic environments in which they live, work and play.

Values:
LEADERSHIP: YPI is committed to creating the leaders of today. Youth voices drive our process, and we seek to develop the leadership skills necessary both within the organization and outside of it.

COMMUNITY: YPI believes building strong connections is essential to youth success and empowerment. We strive to create a caring, respectful and diverse community of young people and adults.
Your tax-deductible donation helps YPI continue to do the important work we do in accordance to our mission. Your gift would be directly investing in our state's LGBTQ youth so that they may have a chance to share their gifts and light with the world.
