Earth Day Clean Up

The Town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the Annual Earth Day Clean Up! 


Tasks may include picking up garbage and debris from Rails to Trails path, Lincoln Park, and surrounding areas, weeding gardens, and more!


Date: Saturday, April 23, 2022

Time: 9:00 AM start

Location: Meet at Lincoln Arena, 1200 Parker Blvd

You may need to get yourself to a different part of the path, depending on where you are assigned, so please be prepared with your own transportation.


Dress appropriately for weather. Pants, long sleeves, gloves, and boots encouraged. Please bring garden tools if possible. There will be some available.


This is a great event for families, neighbors, sports teams, youth groups, and coworkers to get involved in their community. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.


Refreshments provided. Parking and restrooms available at Lincoln Arena and Kenney Field.

Updated Office Hours

Starting April 4, the main office at 299 Decatur Road will be open until 7:00 PM on Mondays & Wednesdays. Regular office hours of 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM will remain in effect for Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.


You can get your pool passes, golf passes, register for summer camp, reserve pavilions, and more at our main office.

Upcoming Lifeguarding Courses

The Town of Tonawanda will be hiring lifeguards for the 2022 Summer season very soon! Lifeguarding courses are offered year-round at the Aquatic & Fitness Center. However, to make sure everyone who is interested in becoming a lifeguard for the 2022 Summer season can get registered into a course, we will be offering 2 different courses starting in April.

April’s fitness challenge is all about building core strength to help with your everyday lifestyle. A strong core can help in performing daily chores and also improve your performance in sports. Balance, stability and posture can all be improved by having a strong core, as well.

Individualized Running Program

If you are new to the sport of running, training for an upcoming race, or just want specific running programming made just for you, try the Individualized Running Program! This brand new package has been created just for runners. Training options between 10 weeks to 16 weeks are available. Every week, an individualized running plan will be sent to the client for the duration of their selected package.

Kids Club


We are open on regular school days, 2:45-6:00 PM, and 12:00-6:00 PM on early release days. Get a part-time or full-time membership to come as often as you’d like. Memberships must be purchased in advance and are available on our website and at the YPR office.


Ages: 4-12 (up to & including 7th grade)

Cost: Vary by membership type; discounts for Access Card holders, sibling discounts available

Registration Process: Contact Ken-Ton Transportation Department regarding bussing, fill out Jefferson pre-registration form online, complete registration & payment online or at 299 Decatur Road—all steps must be completed in advance of your child’s first day.

Summer Camp


Give your child the most fun summer experience! We offer flexible scheduling to meet your summer needs - register for as few as one week of camp or as many as 7 weeks! Enrollment Fees include up to 10.5 hours of childcare daily, one camp t-shirt per person, full schedule of on-site enrichment activities, swimming at Lincoln Pool, and weekly special events and guest performers/educators!

 

Ages: 4-11 (incoming Pre-K through 6th grade in Fall 2022)

Dates: Monday-Friday, July 5-August 19, 2022

Hours: 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM

Middle School Nights


Hang out with your friends and enjoy use of the gym, game room, lounge, and computer lab. We will have organized arts & crafts and sports available. Please wear sneakers. Snacks will be provided.


Date: 1st & 3rd Wednesday of the month through May

Spring Soccer


Registration open through April 20. The program runs May 2-June 11 outdoors at Kenney Field. Team schedules will be sent out once registration closes and team assignments are made.

We have partnered with the Jr. Tomahawks to offer high-quality baseball to our community! Practices begin week of April 25 with games beginning the week of May 7. Registration closes April 20, so don't delay!

Tonawanda Girls Fastpitch Softball League (TGFSL) offers a fun, friendly, community-based softball league for girls 8-16 years old. Games will early June through early August.

Senior Citizens Center

Membership


The cost to belong to the Senior Center is $17 for a resident and $25 for a non-resident. Memberships are good for a year from when it is paid. The cost to have the bulletin mailed to you is still $5 for the year.

Erie County Stay Fit Dining Nutrition Program


The Erie County Stay Fit Dining “Dine-In Program” is offered at the Town of Tonawanda Senior Center. The frozen meal program is still in place. Feel free to take part in both programs if you wish. You must be pre-registered. Call the Senior Center at 874-3266 for more information.

Transportation


Our transportation service is up and running. Doctor appointments take precedent, but we will try to fit grocery shopping, hair appointments, banking, etc. if there is room on a given day. If you are in need of transportation, you can reach the dispatcher at 875-1029 Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM.  

Free Activities


The Senior Center will offer Exercise on Mondays and Thursdays, Preventing Falls on Fridays and Bingo on various days at no charge to our members. No pre-registration is necessary. Call the Center for more information.

RSVP Class


 In conjunction with Erie County, the Town of Tonawanda Senior Center will be holding RSVP classes. These are one-session seminars, open to all senior citizens in Erie County and are free. Call the Senior Center at 874-3266 to register.


The Past, Present & Future of Bethlehem Steel - Friday, May 13 at 1:00 PM

Discussion of the history of the Bethlehem Steel property and the current cleanup and redevelopment of the program site. The instructor will be Stan Radon, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.  

Spring Swing Dance


Join us for a daytime dance at the Town of Tonawanda Senior Center on Friday, May 6 from 1:30 to 4:00 PM. Live entertainment will be National Trust. Cost is $5 for members and $7 for non-members. Signup March 14 to May 2. Snacks and pop will be served.
