Snow, and more snow...
We seem to have settled into the winter weather rather quickly. Snow tires are on, and our mindset is slower driving, more layers of clothing, and keeping the fireplace or woodstove burning. With the snow comes a holiday feeling - it's time to dig out decorations, pull out cookie recipes, search for the perfect tree, and make sure those pretty lights still work. For quilters, it's also time to stay up late into the night, and stitch with our doors closed to make sure the gifts get done on time. Be sure you have plenty of hot cocoa or tea on hand to keep yourself going! We're already seeing customers picking up "the last thing" they need to finish a holiday project, whether it's thread, batting, fabric for binding, or pens for making labels. We have all those last-minute things, and we're open every day until Christmas Eve. Feel free to share photos of your quilts, too - we love to see them!

One last reminder: if you don't have the time to make a gift for someone but want to give a handmade item, stop in and visit our Ready-Made corner. Everything there was made by one of us in the shop, so you know it's made with love!

Intro Classes
Our full Spring 2019 class schedule won't be out until early January, but Ruth is ready to go! She wants to give beginners a head start, so she has her Intro classes already set:

Introduction to Quilting begins January 29, 2019. It's a five-week class, and you'll learn all the basics to start you on your quilting journey. You'll make two projects, including the Rail Fence quilt (at right) and gain confidence in your sewing.

Machine Piecing is her follow-up class, beginning March 12. Here, you learn more techniques, and make enough blocks for a sampler quilt. This class meets five times over seven weeks, giving you a little more time to work on your project, without feeling rushed.

Click on the links above to sign up for her classes online, or stop in at the shop. We hope to see you soon!

Whisper
by QT Fabrics

What a unique way to highlight dandelions! Using black turns our favorite summer weed into something spectacular - imagine a bag made from this group.

Roundabout and Posies 4
from Artisan Batiks
by Robert Kaufman

The influx of batiks has slowed down recently - these are the only ones to arrive in the past two weeks. But aren't they beautiful? Add them to your stash today!

Stonehenge Kids
Undersea 3-D
by Northcott

How much fun are these prints? The colors in this line are really great, too. Kids are so interested in undersea life - both girls and boys. An added bonus here? The panel (photo at left) is 3-D! You get a pair of 3-D glasses with each panel purchase, so don't wait long - these will go fast!

Pixie

from Ink & Arrow

by QT Fabrics

These funky little dots will add some interest to a lot of different projects. They're not all the same size, or shape really. Cindy thinks they look like the falling snow you see in "A Charlie Brown Christmas".

My Favorite Trucks

by Henry Glass

Oh, we love all the bright colors in this line! Construction vehicles and everyday trucks are depicted here, with their names so your little one can learn all about them. That border print (photo below)? Just perfect.

Black, White & Citrus
from Color Principle

by Henry Glass

Texture and movement - that's what we see here, in a striking color combination. We love all five prints! The black circular print (at right in photo) makes a stunning border for a quilt, or focus fabric for a new bag. We can't wait to see what you make with them!

Notions, News & Other Notes

We've been creating new jelly rolls here at the shop! Here are the latest: Blue on Blue (at left), and Hawaiian Lava (below). Are your fingers getting itchy to work with these fabulous colors? We've got Jelly Roll Rug patterns in stock, as well rolls of the batting you need, so if you've been thinking about making a rug, now is a great time to come in. Marty's thinking of making one, too!

Update on Lori Holt's Vintage Christmas: The first (small) batch of books has finally arrived, and customers who were waiting have been called. Marty has placed another book order, so if you want one, give us a call and we'll put you on our waiting list.

Thank you, as always, for your business, and thank you for being our customer. We love that you still believe in shopping local!
