Blue skies, smiling at me...
Spring is inching its way to the Northeast. A little bit of sunshine, a touch of a warm breeze. We just want to head outdoors! It's that time - rake the leaves you left on the ground last fall, uncover your flower and vegetable gardens, spread some grass seed, and most importantly, change out those snow tires!

Spring at Yankee Pride means we're starting to think about the Vermont Quilt Festival. No, we don't vend there anymore, but so many of you stop in and see us during show week! Judy's busy making this year's advent calendars (already!), and the rest of us are pitching in - sewing bindings, making store samples for patterns, and cutting fat quarters. We seem to sell lots and lots of fat quarters at the end of June. Stop in and see what's new at the shop. Each of us are working on different things, both to prepare for the show, and in our personal sewing. We're as eager to share our sewing successes with you as you are to share yours with us. Start a conversation, and trade some ideas - we never know what we might learn!

We offer our condolences to the family, friends, and fans of internationally known quilter Gwen Marston, who passed away April 18. Her style ranged from the very traditional, early in her career, to the more "liberated" in her later years. She was never afraid to quilt "outside the box", and she taught and inspired countless quilters worldwide.

Spring Classes
Our Spring 2019 class schedule is winding down. Below are the remaining new classes that begin this month:

** Last Chance to sign up!  Star Storm Mini (this Saturday, May 4) with Vickie Hutchins. We've had several people interested in this class, and now is your last chance to take it!. Vickie has consolidated the information and instruction to just one day. The price is now $45. If you love this quilt, and want to make one yourself, click on the class name above and sign up online, or stop in at the shop to sign up.

Fiji Tote Bag (May 16) with Cindy. This is a great project to use a favorite fabric - something you want to show off. Add a few matching fat quarters and a lining print, and you can make a stunning bag (photo at right).

Recent Fabric Arrivals

These are several of the arrivals in the past two weeks:

Boro Wovens
by Moda

Moda designers created this line to honor the Japanese tradition of boro, which is creating beautiful textiles through repeated visible mending. As they are wovens, these lovely fabrics are best suited to bags or clothing. The top two prints in the photo are light and drape well, while the bottom two prints are heavier, and more textured.

Morris Garden
by Moda

While FreeSpirit has access to the Morris family archives, Moda is working with the Victoria & Albert museum in London, and their collection of vintage William Morris textiles. What does that mean? Plenty of William Morris fabrics for everyone! Judy ordered precuts from this line - we have layer cakes and charm packs, and various fat quarters. The colors in this line are just gorgeous!

Berry Nice and Rock Garden

by P&B Textiles

Bright colors and pretty flowers make up these two fabric lines. Use them on their own or together in one project. Thoughts of summer flowers make us smile, don't they?

In addition to the allover prints, Judy ordered the border print (at right) and floral panel (below) - both make it easy to complete a project quickly, with gorgeous results.

Thank you, as always, for your business, and thank you for being our customer. We love that you still believe in shopping local!
