Old Man Winter has arrived!
Talk about a rude awakening - in less than a week, we've gone from leaves on the ground to more than a foot of snow in many places here in Vermont. Yes, it's beautiful, but lots of us are scrambling to get our snow tires on and our boots out of the closet. There are, however, positives with all that falling snow: hot cocoa, pretty snowflakes, warm chowders, snowball fights, and covering up with a comfy quilt!

It's also a great time to take out a large project you need (or want) to finish. Whether it's hand quilting, applique, or binding that needs to be done, now is the perfect time to cover your lap with a work in progress. And take a few minutes (or hours) before Thanksgiving and the holiday rush to step into that wonderful world - the one that makes us happy, and sane. Play with your fabric, organize your next project, sit down at the sewing machine, or do some handwork. We all deserve some me-time, don't we?

Remember, if you don't have the time to make a gift for someone but want to give a handmade item, stop in and visit our Ready-Made corner. Everything there was made by one of us in the shop, so you know it's made with love!

Bequest
by RJR Fabrics

Let's start with some pretty fabrics. We all know quilters who love the blue-and-white combination - they actually appeal to lots of us. Want to make something bright and pretty? These will work just fine.

Cats & Dogs
by Andover

These two prints will appeal to many quilters: the cat lovers, the black-and-white collectors, and the modern quilters. Marty has her eye on the graphic print (bottom in photo). What will she make with it?

Basics
by dear Stella

This group of tone-on-tone prints work well with juvenile quilts and modern quilts alike. Use them to line bags, too! Simple designs complement your fun fabrics well.

Weather Permitting

from Janet Clare

by Moda

Janet is back to her blues and indigos, with some interesting designs in this line. The allover print of the continents (bottom in photo) is intriguing...how will we use it? And how about that great butternut flying geese print (top middle in photo)?

Novelty prints

by Michael Miller

This is a fun little group! Judy thought we would enjoy a change of pace, with the dachshunds with brightly colored spots and ears, and look at those funky-colored vegetables (top in photo)! Make some napkins from that print, in time for Thanksgiving!

Bloomfield Avenue

by RJR Fabrics

What pretty pansies! And they're so popular with both quilters and gardeners. Maybe it's their happy "faces". Make a cheery table runner, with some matching placemats and napkins for your table while we toil through the snows of winter.

Camp Cricket

from Bunnies by the Bay

by Timeless Treasures

Warning: cuteness overload! What is better than baby animals in the forest? These prints are so adorable we can't stand it! Add some tone-on-tone prints to this group, and make a sweet baby quilt - one where the baby can learn all about woodland creatures.

Bah Bah Baby

by Windham Fabrics

Here are some very modern, very colorful sheep in the meadow. They look pretty pleased with their surroundings, don't they? The focus print would make an adorable diaper bag, or receiving blanket, or curtains, or baby quilt. There are so many possibilities!

Batiks

by Hoffman

What a gorgeous group of fabrics we have here! Lots of colors and several new prints to choose from. A few of these are already selling fast, so don't wait too long if you see one you like!

Notions, News & Other Notes

In the last newsletter, we told you we had Lori Holt's  Vintage Christmas in stock. Every copy flew out the door! Marty has ordered several more copies, as we now have a waiting list of quilters who want that book. Since Lori is currently such a hot seller, the books are on back order. They are due to arrive late this week, and we will let you know when they get here!

We are again featuring an Elizabeth Hartman pattern, since we can't seem to get enough of her work either! Lloyd & Lola just arrived at the shop. Oh, my goodness, aren't they just the cutest? You don't even have to be a kid to want one of these quilts!

Thank you, as always, for your business, and thank you for being our customer. We love that you still believe in shopping local!
