Leaves are falling...
We've had some really beautiful days here in northern Vermont. Yes, it's been a little late in coming, but the trees are changing, and the leaves are falling. We're seeing lots of tourists stopping in, looking for a little bit of Vermont to take home. We think we're pretty lucky, living in a kaleidoscope of color for seven months of the year. It inspires us, and helps us create. Maybe you're feeling the itch to get back to sewing - all that color! We've gotten a lot of new fabrics in at the shop, and now it's time for you to stop in and see the rainbow that we call our New Fabric shelves. Pull out a pattern you want to make, bring it in, and we'll help you find the perfect prints for it. We also have a good selection of holiday fabrics remaining, so if you're starting to make holiday gifts (a little late?), we've got them, too.

Yankee Pride's Sample Sale
Judy and Rae have gone through all the samples in the shop - it took quite a while to find them all! And Judy chose what to keep, and what to sell. So we're having a sample sale, October 11 - 14 at Yankee Pride. There are finished quilts, pillows, and unfinished tops - most made by Judy, and all high-quality stuff. Looking for holiday gifts you don't have time to make? There's plenty here to choose from. Had your eye on one of our samples for a while? Here's your chance to take it home with you! The photos below give you an idea of what we've got.

Halloween Haunt Tour 2019
The 4th Annual Halloween Haunt Tour is coming your way, October 25 - 27! It's a fun mini-Shop Hop, with just four stores - Sunny Laurel Sisters, A Quilter's Garden, Stowe Fabric & Yarn, and Yankee Pride. Tour tickets will be just $4, available only during the event, and you'll find treats, monster patterns, and a chance to win a grand prize of $50 gift certificates to all four shops! Get your ticket stamped at each shop, and you'll get Boo Bucks - coupons from the shops to be used starting in November. We'll have some more information in our next newsletter, but start making your plans now!

Yankee Pride Helping Hands 2019
Make plans to come to our Helping Hands workshop on Make A Difference Day, Saturday, October 26. Cindy will be at the shop from 10:30 - 4, and there will be bindings to sew and tops to make, all to go to Laurie's House in St. Albans. Please let us know if you're coming, so we have room enough for everyone!

Fall 2019 Classes
Our Fall 2019 class schedule is up and on the web, and classes have begun! The classes listed below are starting in the next few weeks. Clicking on the link for each one will take you to the class page, where you can find more information, or sign up online. You can also sign up by calling us at 802/872-9300, or by stopping in at the shop.

** Advanced Quilting Techniques, with Ruth and Marti (10/16). This is Part 1 of a two-part class. If you're pretty confident in your basic skills, but have questions about or have had problems with some more challenging techniques, this is the class for you. Students will be using Edyta Sitar's "Quilter's Patch" book as a guide, though Ruth and Marti will sometimes use different construction methods than the book uses for the blocks you'll be working on.
** Spots in this class are going fast - don't wait too long to sign up!  The deadline is Friday, October 11.

Tourist Tote Bag with Marti (10/15). Make this roomy bag with just a few fabrics. It's gorgeous, and carries a lot! It will be great to have when you need to pack supplies for your next class.

Laura Heine's Featherweight Collage with Vickie Hutchins (10/20). Oh, the collage quilts are so popular right now! Vickie is a Laura Heine-certified instructor, so you'll get the best guidance when making your quilt. If you don't have the perfect fabric in your stash, no worries - she'll have fabric kits available to purchase in class!

Machine Piecing with Ruth (10/22 & 10/23). This is technically Part 2 of Ruth's Intro to Quilting series, but anyone can take it! If you need some guidance, some tips and tricks, and a little more basic knowledge in your quiltmaking, this multi-week class is for you. You'll make enough blocks to complete a sampler quilt!

Recent Fabric Arrivals

These are the highlights of recent arrivals. Click on the photo for a closeup, and click here if you're interested in purchasing any of these fabrics by the yard on our website:

Sugarcreek

from Corey Yoder

by Moda

If ever a line called out to our friend Kathy, this is the one! It's everything she loves in a fabric line. Sweet florals, coral pinks, soft yellows...what more could you want? Make a lovely spring quilt using all of these prints - it will help you through the cold, gray winter.

Batik prints

by Hoffman

Conversely, if it's fall you love, this is a great group to use! Here, you've got a dark, a medium, and a light - perfect for making a gorgeous bag, or adding to your current fall batik stash to start a new quilt.

Forest

by Makower

These are really amazing prints! Makower is based in England, and we think that's why their fabrics always look so fresh and different than what we see from other, US-based companies. This line is completely adorable, and there are so many things you can make for a child (or for yourself).

Spectratastic

from Giucy Giuce

by Andover

This group of fabrics will certainly brighten and accent whatever project you add them to! Each one has a random paint splatter, which helps bring down the intensity, just a bit. Need some pop in your quilt? Add one of these.

Darlene's Favorites

from Darlene Zimmerman

by Robert Kaufman

We're stocking up on our sweet little 30s prints. There are several good backgrounds in this group, and a few more colors to add. Apron anyone?

Wound Up

by Andover

This group is really fun! We're guessing, from the name of the line, that this motif is supposed to look like balls of yarn. It does, but if you look really closely, there are curved rows of tiny flying geese making up the strands of 'yarn'. These are great for adding texture to your project without drawing a lot of attention.
