A chill is in the air...
Outside it's gray and dreary - we're a little confused by the lack of snow at this point in November. Inside the shop, however, as more fabric arrives, it's brighter and more cheery every day. We're unpacking tone-on-tones in gorgeous colors, Kona solids, crisp white-on-whites, and rich batiks. Many customers are now making plans for winter sewing - either finishing projects from their UFO piles, or planning new ones and looking for their fabrics.

On that note, we are getting some questions from customers about the possibility of a shutdown again here in Vermont. As of today, our plan is to stay open as long as possible. If we are ordered to close, we plan to proceed as we did in April and May. You'll be able to place orders online, and either pick them up at the door or have them shipped to you. It seemed to work well throughout the spring, so why change it? The shopping was safe for both staff and customers, and we were able to address everyone's needs.

The usual reminder if you are coming to see us:

*Masks are mandatory, for both customers and staff.
*Please sanitize at the door when you come in. Your hands must be completely dry before you can touch the fabric.
*Store capacity is 4 customers at once.
*We will remain closed on Sundays until further notice.

We are still processing orders to ship, and Store Pickups, so feel free to shop online. Cindy has put more than 2,200 bolts of our inventory on the website, and Marti has added thread, books, and patterns. We're doing our very best to make your Yankee Pride experience a good one, whether you're walking among the bolts or shopping from your couch.

Quilt-Along with Judy

Due to the pandemic and contact limitations, Yankee Pride is not currently doing a Mystery Quilt. Instead, we're trying something new: a quilt-along! We invite you all to take part. It's so easy to start: You can choose any quilt pattern you'd like, but if you're feeling stuck and want to try something new, click here to check out the free patterns from Windham Fabrics. They're really nice, not too difficult, and there are lots of choices (more than 60 pages worth!!).

Judy is working hard on Blue Boardwalk, by Diane Nagle (at left). Since the pattern is made up of half-square triangles and flying geese, she has reworked it using Studio 180's Wing Clipper II and Tucker Trimmer II. Those instructions are available now, by clicking here. You can print them out for yourself, and be on your way!

**Some of the patterns on Windham's list may not yet be available, as they are linked to upcoming fabric line releases.

Each Wednesday, we're posting Judy's progress on our Instagram and Facebook pages, and we encourage you to send pictures of your own progress so we can share them with everyone.

Upcoming Block of the Month Projects

We still have space if you want to sign up for "Nebula". It's a gorgeous quilt, and one where you can work on your piecing skills. Aren't those colors gorgeous? This BOM will run from January through October of 2021. Call the shop and sign up today!

"American Glory" starts this month, and we still have a few spots available. If you're looking for a project to help get you through the winter, this one might just do it. If you were on the fence about it, but really want to make this quilt, give us a call at the shop and sign up!

Thanksgiving Hours

Yankee Pride will close at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25, and remain closed on Thursday, November 26 for Thanksgiving. We will return to normal hours on Friday. In this difficult time, we hope you are able to enjoy your holiday, whether you're together at the table, or sharing dinner long-distance on Zoom or FaceTime. We will be doing the same.

Recent Fabric Arrivals

These are the highlights of recent arrivals. Click on the photo for a closeup, and click here if you're interested in purchasing any of these fabrics by the yard on our website:

Batiks

by Hoffman

What's not to like about these? Thin stripes, tone-on-tone, and batik! Stripes make wonderful accents, and add some whimsy when you use them as binding. There are some great colors here for you to choose from.

Jungle Friends

by Makower

Jungle prints, real or imagined, are always popular for kids quilts. These two arrived this week, and are so small and sweet! Dare we say that they're the perfect size for masks? If we've got to keep making them, we might as well make them fun.

The Coop

from Kim Schaefer

by Andover

We know we have lots of chicken fans out there, so check these out! Funky chickens in fun colors, the ever-popular chicken wire (top right in photo), and some winding, random chicken tracks, too (bottom right in photo). These are great for all things kitchen.

Chalk and Charcoal

from Jennifer Sampou

by Robert Kaufman

We've carried a few of these over the past year, and our customers love them! The pattern looks like a screen (remember those?), and when you add color, it adds texture, and works in lots of different kinds of quilts. The softer colors complement pastels, the rich colors work with holiday fabrics, kids fabrics, and traditional prints, and the neutrals look good everywhere.

Village Life

by Makower

These juvenile prints look so idyllic! A European village, and various farm animals grazing in fields and barnyards. It all looks very peaceful, and looks like somewhere we might like to be right now. Make a fun quilt and teach your little ones all about life on the farm. The tractor print (left in photo) has several different kinds of farm equipment on it - we don't see that too often!

Notions, News, and other Fun Stuff

New at the shop this week is the Sew Steady Grid Glider. It attaches to your machine, helping you with different aspects of quilting. Its smooth surface allows you to free-motion quilt with ease, and the grid makes it easy to sew units like half-square triangles without marking! It measures 12" x 20", and has a hole precut for your feed dogs. Add it to your Christmas wish list!

Deanna has started taking names of people who would like to join our Sulky Club! This is something we've run in the past, for people who just love the Sulky 12-wt embroidery thread, but do not yet have a collection . Over the course of six months, you will receive 80 different embroidery threads! If you participated last time around, you can sit this one out - you already have all these threads! The price is $24.99/month, and if you live far away, we do ship for a small additional fee. The club starts in January. Stop in or call to sign up!

Thank you, as always, for your business, and thank you for being our customer. We love that you still believe in shopping local!
