Wave goodbye to summer...
We think the last warm day was this week, and we hope you got outside to enjoy it. Cleaning your garden, raking leaves, or just sitting in the sunshine without layers to keep you warm was a real pleasure. We're even hearing the dreaded 'S' word in our weather forecasts here in Vermont. Just in the upper elevations, but really, that's not far away from any of us!

We continue to receive fabric, slowly but surely. The first thing Judy's stocking up on is tone-on-tone fabrics - basics. They're not sexy, flashy, or exciting, but they're what we need to complete any project. Fingers crossed, we're expecting batik deliveries every two weeks for the next two months! Now is the time to plan your winter project, pull what you have in your stash, and make a list of what you need. Then bring that list into the shop, and check off those remaining items.

Speaking of planning winter projects, Judy is doing an informal quilt-along, and invites you to join her. More info on that is below. We'll be posting updates on social media as she sews, and we hope you'll send and post photos of your projects, too!

As most of you know, if you are coming to see us:

*Masks are mandatory, for both customers and staff.
*Please sanitize and/or glove at the door when you come in.
(If you sanitize only, your hands must be completely dry before you touch any fabric)
*Store capacity is 4 customers at once.
*We will remain closed on Sundays until further notice.

We are still processing orders to ship, and Store Pickups, so feel free to shop online if you're not comfortable coming in. Cindy has put more than 2,000 bolts of our inventory on the website, and Marti has added thread and books. We're doing our very best to make your Yankee Pride experience a good one, whether you're walking among the bolts or shopping from your couch.

Quilt-Along with Judy

As many of you know, due to the pandemic and contact limitations, Yankee Pride is not currently doing a Mystery Quilt. Instead, we're trying something new: a quilt-along! We invite you all to take part. And it's so easy to start: You can choose any quilt pattern you'd like, but if you're feeling stuck and want to try something new, click here to check out the free patterns from Windham Fabrics. They're really nice, not too difficult, and there are lots of choices (more than 60 pages!!).

Judy has chosen Blue Boardwalk, by Diane Nagle (at left). The pattern itself is a throw-sized quilt, but Judy is turning it into a queen, doubling the amount of fabric required. If you choose a pattern, and decide you want to change the size, bring it into the shop, and we can help you figure out the correct fabric yardages.

Keep in mind as you're paging through the patterns that some of the ones at the beginning of Windham's list may not yet be available, as they are linked to upcoming fabric line releases.

Each Wednesday, we will post Judy's progress on our Instagram and Facebook pages, and we encourage you to send pictures of your own progress so we can share them with everyone. Below, you can see Judy's fabric choices for her quilt. For more information, email us at [email protected], or stop in to see us.

Upcoming Block of the Month Projects

This is your last chance to sign up for "American Glory" from Wilmington Prints. The 8-month program, full of traditional quilt blocks, is shown at left. The finished quilt is 61" x 81" - great for a twin-sized bed.
*The cost will be $21.50/month.
*This BOM starts in November 2020, so the signup deadline is October 31.

If want to get in on the fun, please call the shop at 872-9300 or email us at [email protected].

We still have space if you want to sign up for "Nebula". It's a gorgeous quilt, and one where you can work on your piecing skills. Aren't those colors gorgeous? This BOM will run from January through October of 2021. Call the shop and sign up today!

Daydream

by Makower

Who doesn't love a print with little hearts all over it? Make cute bags and adorable dresses, and give your baby quilts a dose of cheer. Wouldn't one of these be the sweetest nursery curtains?

Allegiance and Century Solids

by Andover

We always carry a selection of patriotic prints - these are the newest (left in photo). They're quite nice if you're making Quilts of Valor, or even just a project for someone who loves red, white, and blue. We're also trying out a few of the new Andover solids - these (right in photo) go great with the star prints, don't they?

Kaleidoscope - Stripes & Plaids

by Andover

Yes, gray is a popular color with modern quilters. It's also become very useful for traditional quilters, as well. These two fabrics are wovens - they look soft and lovely, don't they? What a sophisticated bag you could make...ooh, the ideas are coming fast!

Olive Branch

from Laundry Basket Quilts

by Andover

These pretty tone-on-tones can be used by both Repro quilters and traditional quilters - who can't make use of a good green (there are 3 here!), a nice dark red, and a great beige?

Notions, News, and other Fun Stuff

'Tis time for early holiday shopping, and Yankee Pride is here with handmade gifts you might not have time to make yourself. Rae has organized our ready-made stock, so you can easily find what you're looking for. Large quilts/tops are hanging on the walls downstairs, and on the tables there are advent calendars, table runners, wall hangings, tree skirts, and smaller quilts. Many of these are at a reduced price, so don't miss out on a deal for a beautiful piece you've seen in the shop!

Deanna has started taking names of people who would like to join our Sulky Club! This is something we've run in the past, for people who just love the Sulky 12-wt embroidery thread, but do not yet have a collection . If you participated last time around, you can sit this one out - you already have all these threads! The club starts in January, and we'll have more information in our next newsletter. Stop in or call to sign up!

Thank you, as always, for your business, and thank you for being our customer. We love that you still believe in shopping local!
