The top of Mt. Mansfield is white...
That's our clear sign that Fall is soon to be in the rear view mirror. It's really a lovely sight, though, and one that many of us have looked at as inspiration for a landscape quilt. Heading east on Route 15 at sunset, you see the white peaks against a pink/purple/blue evening sky - it's just gorgeous. We might have to dye our own fabric, though, to get that sky just right. Do you have a special spot on your daily drive, one that's begging to be made into a quilt? Take a moment, pull over, and take a photo with your phone (or your camera). That's the first step. Take that photo to your stash, and then to the quilt shop, and match fabrics to the colors in your photo. Depending on your preferred method of construction, you can piece, or applique, or fuse, or paint your way to making that memory permanent. Are your fingers itching to get started? Great!

We continue to receive fabric, most in small amounts. Our batiks are coming at a quicker pace, and in greater number. Check out the photos below for what's arrived in the past two weeks. And more is on the way!

A reminder if you are coming to see us:

*Masks are mandatory, for both customers and staff.
*Please sanitize at the door when you come in. Your hands must be completely dry before you can touch the fabric.
*Store capacity is 4 customers at once.
*We will remain closed on Sundays until further notice.

We are still processing orders to ship, and Store Pickups, so feel free to shop online if you're not comfortable coming in. Cindy has put more than 2,100 bolts of our inventory on the website, and Marti has added thread, books, and patterns. We're doing our very best to make your Yankee Pride experience a good one, whether you're walking among the bolts or shopping from your couch.

Quilt-Along with Judy

As many of you know, due to the pandemic and contact limitations, Yankee Pride is not currently doing a Mystery Quilt. Instead, we're trying something new: a quilt-along! We invite you all to take part. It's so easy to start: You can choose any quilt pattern you'd like, but if you're feeling stuck and want to try something new, click here to check out the free patterns from Windham Fabrics. They're really nice, not too difficult, and there are lots of choices (more than 60 pages worth!!).

Judy has now begun Blue Boardwalk, by Diane Nagle (at left). Since the pattern is made up of half-square triangles and flying geese, she is reworking it using Studio 180's Wing Clipper II and Tucker Trimmer II. Those instructions will be made available soon - check our home page, where we'll have a link to our "Yankee Pride Notes". You'll be able to print them out for yourself.

Keep in mind as you're paging through the patterns that some of those on Windham's list may not yet be available, as they are linked to upcoming fabric line releases.

Each Wednesday, we're posting Judy's progress on our Instagram and Facebook pages, and we encourage you to send pictures of your own progress so we can share them with everyone.

Upcoming Block of the Month Projects

We still have space if you want to sign up for "Nebula". It's a gorgeous quilt, and one where you can work on your piecing skills. Aren't those colors gorgeous? This BOM will run from January through October of 2021. Call the shop and sign up today!

"American Glory" starts this month, and we still have a few spots available. If you're looking for a project to help get you through the winter, this one might just do it. If you were on the fence about it, but really want to make this quilt, give us a call at the shop and sign up!

Recent Fabric Arrivals

These are the highlights of recent arrivals. Click on the photo for a closeup, and click here if you're interested in purchasing any of these fabrics by the yard on our website:

Novelty prints

by Timeless Treasures

Judy ordered several novelty prints in early summer, and some of them are arriving now. The seahorses (left in photo) will coordinate nicely with some of the other ocean-themed prints we've got in stock. The sheep (right in photo) are just adorable - make something fun for a knitter or for yourself - there's still sewing time before the holidays!

It's Elementary
from American Jane

by Moda

This is a really great group of 1930s prints! The tiny dot prints can be used in other projects like kids quilts and traditional quilts. The busier prints make great aprons and kitchen decor, and all of them are fun for doll clothing and accessories. Have some fun and plan a new project!

Balis & Batiks

by Hoffman

Our Hoffman orders are starting to arrive - we'll have shipments every two weeks all the way through November. Some are 1895 Watercolors, some are 885 Dots, and others are brand-new batik prints. We got so many since our last newsletter that we needed several photos to show them all!

Notions, News, and other Fun Stuff

'Tis time for early holiday shopping, and Yankee Pride is here with handmade gifts you might not have time to make yourself. Rae has organized our ready-made stock, so you can easily find what you're looking for. Large quilts/tops are hanging on the walls downstairs, and on the tables there are advent calendars, table runners, wall hangings, tree skirts, and smaller quilts. Many of these are at a reduced price, so don't miss out on a deal for a beautiful piece you've seen in the shop! Several people have already been in and picked up gifts for loved ones.

Deanna has started taking names of people who would like to join our Sulky Club! This is something we've run in the past, for people who just love the Sulky 12-wt embroidery thread, but do not yet have a collection . Over the course of six months, you will receive 80 different embroidery threads! If you participated last time around, you can sit this one out - you already have all these threads! The price is $24.99/month, and if you live far away, we do ship for a small additional fee. The club starts in January. Stop in or call to sign up!

Thank you, as always, for your business, and thank you for being our customer. We love that you still believe in shopping local!
