APRIL 2026

YPL Hours:

Thursday 10 - 6

Saturday 10 - 12

We are closed Sunday and Monday.

Just a few reminders & updates -

Annual Campaign Our Annual Appeal is well underway, and many thanks to all who have contributed so far. It is heartwarming to know that the library is such a special place to so many in our community. Since our fiscal year runs from July 1st to June 30th, we will continue to reach out to ask for your support.

Charge it! The library can now take credit card payments at the circulation desk for your annual appeal donation, a YPL cap or mug, book sale items, copies, faxes, etc. We also have a link on our website (or see link below) so you can charge contributions of support.

Curbside pick-up is available every day that we are open, and materials can be left out for after-hours pick-up if requested before the end of the day.

PARKING! Parking at YPL, especially when there is an event, is limited and difficult. We have four spaces near the front door, and we ask that if you park out front please be mindful of the lines and pull forward as far as possible within the lines to allow for four cars to park safely.

Also, our back door is always open during library hours, park out back (where there is plenty of room) and come on in the back door.

PROGRAMS and more!

DIRT 101 - Garden Soil Preparation & Amending

with Patrice Amos, Master Gardener

Cape Cod can be a very challenging place to garden. Patrice Amos will talk about the key first step in helping you reach your goals for a successful garden of flowers, shrubs or vegetables. Patrice Amos is a Master Gardener with Master Gardeners’ Association of Cape Cod. She works summers at Hart Farm in Dennisport in what she calls a low-key job after a long high-tech career. Space will be limited. Please call to reserve your space.

In Her Times: Our Grandmothers’ Stories

Wednesday, April 1st, 10:30 AM - 12 PM with Irene Paine

In Her Times: Our Grandmothers’ Stories is an exploratory writing and research project designed to help you explore your grandmothers’ lives, either one at a time, or both simultaneously. Through thoughtful questions and creative prompts, you’ll uncover their cherished traditions, friendships, and everyday joys.

The project encourages reflection on probable early childhood experiences and the hardships they faced through the years. Resources for finding genealogy data are given. By learning about the decades these women lived through, you gain insight into your own roots and family story. We stand upon the shoulders of our ancestors, and this is a wonderful way to spend time honoring them. Irene Paine is a 14th generation Cape Codder and the author of the historic Cape Cod based novel: Eva and Henry, A Cape Cod Marriage. She writes poetry, prose and short stories. Please call the library by March 28th to register for this program. With enough interest (at least four participants are required) the program will also meet on the following three consecutive Wednesdays of April.
